Main missions

A Mechanical Engineer designs and develops mechanical systems and components for nuclear power plants, ensuring they meet safety standards, technical specifications, and operational requirements. This includes creating detailed designs and engineering plans.

He/She conducts feasibility studies and risk analysis to evaluate the viability of mechanical projects, identifying technical constraints, potential risks, and alternative solutions to enhance safety and efficiency.

The Mechanical Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams, including electrical and civil engineers, to integrate mechanical designs into overall plant systems. He/She participates in testing and validation processes to ensure the performance and reliability of mechanical components and systems.

Job activities

  • Mechanical Design and Development: Design and develop mechanical systems and components for nuclear power plants, using CAD software to create detailed engineering plans and technical specifications.

  • Feasibility Studies: Conduct technical feasibility studies to evaluate the viability of mechanical projects, considering technical, economic, and regulatory constraints.

  • Risk Analysis: Perform risk analyses to identify potential hazards associated with mechanical systems and propose mitigation measures and safety solutions.

  • Testing and Validation: Participate in testing and validation of mechanical systems and components, coordinating test activities, analyzing results, and documenting performance and compliance with specifications.

  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Develop and implement maintenance strategies for mechanical systems, performing regular inspections, diagnosing issues, and conducting repairs to ensure continuous and safe operation.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all mechanical engineering activities comply with industry regulations and safety standards, maintaining detailed documentation and implementing required procedures.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering disciplines, such as electrical and civil engineers, to ensure the integration of mechanical systems into the overall plant design and operation.

  • Performance Optimization: Propose improvements to optimize the performance and reliability of mechanical systems, using analysis and simulation techniques to identify weaknesses and recommend enhancements.
