In 2022, there were approximately 32 million people directly employed in the oil and gas sector worldwide, supplemented by millions of indirect jobs in related sectors such as construction, engineering, manufacturing and services.

All jobs in the sector come to serve world oil production which amounts to approximately 94 million barrels per day in 2022. Global natural gas production, meanwhile, rose to around 4043.8 trillion meters cubes in 2022.
