The Contract Manager is involved from the early stages of projects by providing expertise in drafting, analyzing, and negotiating contractual clauses, in line with industry standards (e.g., EDF procurement codes, INB requirements, GDPR, export control).
During the execution phase, he/she supervises daily contractual management, handles deviations, claims, amendments, and potential penalties, while protecting the company’s interests. He/She acts as a facilitator among stakeholders (project managers, legal teams, procurement, suppliers, regulatory authorities) to ensure contractual compliance and anticipate legal or regulatory risks.
Contractual Analysis in a Nuclear Context: Analyze client, supplier, and subcontractor contracts by integrating the nuclear industry’s specific requirements (sensitive clauses, INB obligations, ASN compliance, safety, confidentiality), and identify associated risks from the tendering phase.
Contract Execution Monitoring: Ensure rigorous monitoring of contractual commitments (technical, quality, schedule, safety, deliverables), in accordance with nuclear procurement codes (EDF, Orano, CEA…) and internal governance.
Change and Claim Management: Manage contractual changes (change management), claims, amendments, and potential disputes, in collaboration with project managers and legal counsel. Draft high-stakes contractual correspondence and ensure proper traceability.
Regulatory Compliance Oversight: Ensure that contractual conditions comply with current nuclear regulations (ASN, INB, nuclear HSE, export control) and maintain strict documentation control.
Support to Project and Procurement Teams: Assist operational teams in interpreting contractual terms, managing strategic suppliers, and responding to client inquiries within contractual deadlines.
Negotiation with Stakeholders: Participate in negotiations with clients, partners, project owners (AMOA), and authorities, often within the framework of confidential or classified projects.
Document Management and Archiving: Implement robust document control procedures, write summaries, position papers, and contract dashboards for project reviews and quality audits.
Contract Closure and Lessons Learned: Lead the contractual close-out phase: lifting of reservations, financial assessments, contractual feedback, and validation of final deliverables with project and legal teams.
