Title Operations Manager

Position summary

Supervision of all the operation activities of the Process and Utilities installations of the treatment plant.

Achievement of production objectives while respecting safety rules and operating procedures and instructions.

Daily coordination necessary with the Process Service of the Operations Department as well as with the Engineering Production Department, the Maintenance Department and the HSE Department.

Main duties & responsibilities

  • Ensure the strict application of charters, rules and safety and environmental instructions.
  • Supervise the entire process of validation, opening and closing of work permits and associated permits.
  • Be part of the teams involved in the management of emergency situations leading onsite response.
  • Ensure, in conjunction with the Process Service, the optimization of the operating parameters of the installations, the analysis and reporting of the problems encountered. Ensure that the consumption of chemicals is optimized.
  • In conjunction with the process department, ensure the quality relating to product specifications and environmental discharge standards.
  • Ensure the review updating of procedures, PID's and operating manuals.
  • Ensure that operating instructions are kept between workstations and handover with changes.
  • Participate in the processing process (initiation, study, validation, reception and closure) of requests for modifications to installations.
  • Participate in the process of analyzing the causes of near misses, anomalies and incidents.
  • Make equipment available for carrying out maintenance, inspection or modification programs.
  • Participate in the preparation of three-year and ten-year inspection programs.
  • Ensure the performance evaluation, skills monitoring and training of its staff.
  • Support the Head of the Operations Department and act as interim manager if necessary.
  • Participate in project and commissioning activities
  • Participate in engineering operations activities (manual and operating procedures, training manuals)
  • Ensure training and development of reports to manage competence of team members

Internal and external interfaces

  • Requirement to maintain close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure understanding and cooperation towards promoting GTG interests and achieving results
  • Line manager for Operations team consisting of engineers, foremen, control room operators, and technicians.

Context and environment

  • Monthly rotational assignment 28/28. Will be based on site at Oued Zine (Algeria).
  • Missions and meetings in Algiers/London/ Aberdeen may also be required.

Required Competences/ Qualifications / Experience / Profile

Education

  • University Degree (Bac+3) Petroleum, Geophysics or Geology

Experience:

  • 10 to 12 years of experience in operating the process and utility facilities of a gas treatment plant, including at least 6 years in a management/ supervisory position.
  • Possess the skills to command, organize work and manage a workforce made up of national and foreign personnel (partners and / or subcontractors)
  • Components of the Operations specialty: HSE, Process, Wells, ICSS,
  • Experienced in Management of Major Emergencies to minimum level of Incident Controller
  • Experienced in Permit to Work and Isolation processes ideally at Area Authority level as a minimum

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and French is required, and Arabic is preferred

  • Conducts Management Safety Walks as required.
  • Is able to identify hazards and stop work if required. Promote Stop work authority within team
  • Support that all accidents, incidents, near misses and safety observations are correctly reported, investigated and corrective actions identified, participating in investigations as required.
  • Implements the consequence management procedure for direct reports if appropriate.
