Environmental Engineer

Job Purpose

To fulfil the Environmental Engineer Position which will be under supervision and mentor by the HSE Co. Manager.

Key Accountabilities

  • Stay updated on local, wilaya, and federal environmental regulations relevant to the oil and gas industry against GHBR’s business.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with environmental laws and permits.
  • Monitor the compliance of statutory obligations, and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments for new projects and existing operations.
  • Identify potential environmental risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to implement effective remediation solutions.
  • Monitor and assess air, soil and water quality at project sites.
  • Implement measures to control and reduce emissions, noise, spills, and discharges
  • Establish and maintain monitoring programs for environmental parameters.
  • Coordinate and oversee the remediation of contaminated sites.
  • Develop and implement waste management plans.
  • Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with regulations.
  • Recommend and implement sustainable practices to reduce the overall environmental footprint of operations.
  • Identify opportunities for energy efficiency and resource conservation.
  • Analyze data and prepare reports on environmental performance.
  • Engage with local communities and stakeholders to address environmental concerns.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans for environmental incidents.
  • Provide guidance during environmental emergencies and spills.
  • Be a focal point of the administration task under HSE Office.
  • Assist the HSE Manager to establish and carryout HSE Management System implementation in compliance with GHBR HSE policies, environment procedures for the entire Groupement operation activities.
  • Support the HSE Manager on the procurement process via SAP system such as prepare scope of services, specification, gather the quotation from vender, create PR/PO, verify the invoices for payment process etc.
  • Coordinate and Supervise HSE function in the field i.e. Operations Team, Drilling Rigs, Construction Team to regularly monitoring and analyse the Envi statistics, report and other tracking information as required.
  • Maintain and update Envi record such as energy consumption, water volume, waste volume, flare volume, inspection record, training data, Envi analysis and prepare the regularly report accordingly.
  • Maintain Update the department share folder/Database to keep such record of HSE Document, HSE statistics record and relevant HSE report/letters etc.
  • Keep tracking Asset HSE Plan, KPI’s and coordinate with other line functions to ensure their HSE plans were appropriately established as well.
  • Conduct an internal HSE meeting, Monthly HSE meeting, where performance (HSE Plan Progress, Actions closed-out) is presented and reviewed against Objectives and Groupement HSE Target.
  • Participate in incident/accident or near miss investigation if needed.

Professional Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with Environmental and HSE MS is mandatory
  • Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and permitting processes.
  • Proficiency in environmental modeling, impact assessment tools, and data analysis.
  • Strong communication skills for interactions with internal teams, regulatory agencies, and local communities.
  • Excellence in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Proactive working style and willingness to develop the new task to increase the effectiveness of HSE Function
  • Must be able to communicate with employees of all levels in the organization to help ensure a clear understanding of Groupement HSE rules and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; a team orientation, as well as the ability to deal effectively with personnel at all levels
  • Ability to identify environmental issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English is a must
  • Able to travel to the field if there is any short business mission
  • HSE Training skill to conduct the HSE Internal Training as per business requirement.
