Ouargla, April 2025 – As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy in Algeria, Altea Energy had the honor of sponsoring the 2025 regional Skills Olympics, held from April 20 to 24 at the Mufdi Zakaria Cultural Center in Ouargla.
This large-scale event, held under the high patronage of the Wali (Governor) of Ouargla, was organized in coordination with the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training of the Wilaya, and follows the agreement signed with Altea Energy on January 30, 2024.

A forward-looking event for the professional future of youth
Held under the theme “The footprints of our youth… shape the future”, this edition brought together 88 participants across 19 specialties, grouped into six main skills areas:
- Manufacturing and engineering technologies
- Information and communication technologies
- Construction and building
- Transportation and logistics
- Creative arts and fashion
- Services
The challenges required young participants to demonstrate advanced technical know-how in fields as diverse as mechatronics, mobile app development, cybersecurity, and industrial maintenance.
Some competitions—such as digital construction and industrial design—were reserved for participants under the age of 25.
Tangible support from Altea Energy
As an official sponsor, Altea Energy was fully committed to supporting this initiative that highlights local skills and professional innovation.
Representing the company on the opening day of the competition was Hakim BETTAYEB, HR Business Partner at Altea Energy.
The event is part of an ongoing partnership with the Ouargla Directorate of Vocational Training, through which Altea Energy is committed to supporting young people in developing their skills and entering the job market.
El Hachemi OUKIL, Algeria Country Manager at Altea Energy, stated:
“On behalf of the entire Altea Energy team, I would like to warmly thank the Wali of Ouargla, the Director of Employment of the Wilaya of Ouargla, the Director of Vocational Training of Ouargla, and our external consultant Mr. Badreddine HADJ SAID for their involvement and warm welcome.
Promoting our actions is an important step that contributes to the development of the country and of the younger generations as a whole. Encouraging youth training is a commendable initiative, as it fosters long-term economic growth by equipping the local workforce with the skills necessary to succeed in the job market.
For several years now, we have been putting our energy sector and recruitment expertise at the service of younger generations, making a positive impact on youth unemployment reduction and quality of life improvement in the region.”
National ambitions
This regional edition of the Skills Olympics is only the beginning. It will be followed by the inter-regional competition in Ghardaïa in September, and the national finals in Oran in November 2025.
As Yacine Oualid, Minister of Vocational Training and Education in Algeria, emphasized in his official statement:
“The Skills Olympics carries a powerful message: vocational training in Algeria is a path for excellence — for those who dare to innovate, and for everyone determined to make a lasting impact.”
Altea Energy shares this vision wholeheartedly, supporting concrete initiatives that guide young people toward promising careers—particularly in HSE and oil and gas professions, which lie at the heart of the company’s expertise.
