Today, Altea Energy celebrates the 10-year work anniversary of Mohamed Amara, Driver based in Hassi Messaoud, Algeria. To mark the occasion, the local team organized a reception in his honor at HMD, a well-deserved tribute to ten years of quiet but essential commitment to the safety, comfort and overall experience of our consultants in the field.
Behind the wheel since Altea Energy’s early days in Algeria, Mohamed has seen operations grow and HSE practices become increasingly structured. His journey also tells a story of what makes someone stay for a decade: trust, team spirit and a job well done.
Supporting Altea Energy’s first consultants in Hassi Messaoud
Mohamed joined Altea Energy in 2015, at a time when the company’s activities in Algeria were still in their early stages of development.
“I joined Altea Energy in 2015. I supported some of Altea Energy’s first consultants working for an energy client. At the time, there were only four employees in Algeria covering all of the company’s operations. Those were the early days of our activities in Hassi Messaoud,” explains Mohamed Amara.
Ten years later, Mohamed has seen the number of clients increase, teams expand and roles become more specialized as Altea Energy developed its activities across the country. In the field, he has experienced this evolution very concretely in his own role, particularly through the increasing focus on consultant safety.
More than just a journey: 10 years of progress in consultant safety
Because he is directly involved in transporting consultants, Mohamed has had a front-row view of the progressive development of Altea Energy’s HSE policy in Algeria.
“HSE has developed tremendously. Today, we have procedures and a clear way of doing things. It’s a major step forward for the company,” Mohamed adds.
Over the years, practices have been strengthened around a shared objective: ensuring consultants can travel safely and reach their assignment locations in the best possible conditions.
Safe driving practices, knowledge of routes, compliance with clients’ driving rules, vehicle monitoring and coordination with teams in the event of an emergency are now all integral parts of Altea Energy’s operations in Algeria. This progress is part of the Group’s broader HSE policy and its ISO 45001 certification.
For Mohamed, these standards are not abstract principles: they are part of his everyday work. His role often begins as soon as a consultant arrives at the airport, making him one of their first Altea Energy contacts on the ground.
In an environment where journeys can be long and operational constraints significant, his mission goes far beyond simply transporting someone from point A to point B. It requires availability, anticipation, knowledge of the local environment and, above all, trust.
“This is what I have enjoyed doing from the very beginning. When I assist a consultant, I feel useful, first and foremost to the person, and then to the company. When our consultant is satisfied, I’m happy.”
It is a conviction shared by El Hachemi Oukil, Country Manager Algeria:
“Mohamed is one of those team members whose work is essential to the quality of support we provide to our consultants in Algeria. For the past ten years, his knowledge of the local environment, his commitment to service and his constant attention to safety have directly contributed to the sense of trust we want every consultant to experience, from the moment they arrive and throughout their assignment.”

Ten years of assignments and some memorable journeys
Over the past ten years, Mohamed has covered many kilometres alongside Altea Energy consultants. Among all these assignments, one remains particularly memorable: accompanying expatriate consultants across the desert all the way to the Tunisian border.
It is an experience that illustrates the very practical reality of his role: being there whenever consultants need assistance, including over long distances and in demanding environments.
According to Mohamed, this availability is built on two simple principles that guide his relationships with consultants, clients and colleagues: trust and respect.
Ten years of loyalty to a team
While Mohamed has witnessed Altea Energy evolve, he has also built his own journey with the company.
When asked what has made him want to stay all these years, he immediately mentions the close-knit teams, the company’s professionalism and the relationships he has built along the way.
“The team members are very close-knit. The Hassi teams are the best! I would even say it’s a family,” says Mohamed.
And when asked what advice he would give to someone joining Altea Energy today, his answer reflects the way he has built his own career:
“Work seriously and professionally, and become part of the team. It’s a company that values its people, especially those who are committed to doing their job well.”
10 years, and the journey continues
Mohamed’s journey also reflects ten years of Altea Energy’s development in Algeria: from its early operations in Hassi Messaoud to a well-established presence in the country today, with local teams committed to supporting consultants and contributing to their safety throughout their assignments.
His story is also a reminder of a simple reality: behind HSE procedures, tools and standards, their day-to-day implementation depends above all on the commitment of the women and men working in the field.
“It’s been an excellent journey, even though it can sometimes be challenging. I hope to continue working with these teams until I retire!” concludes Mohamed.
From the entire Altea Energy team
💙 Mohamed, thank you for these 10 years of commitment, for always being there, and for the care and attention you bring every day to the safety and support of our consultants.
The entire Altea Energy team wishes you a very happy work anniversary and many more kilometres together!
