Main Responsibilities

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for leading the design and review of all mechanical systems involved in the expansion of the Al Gabal El-Asfar Wastewater Treatment Plant. This role focuses on ensuring that the mechanical design aligns with project specifications, is energy-efficient, and adheres to international standards for safety and sustainability.

Specific tasks include

• Designing and reviewing mechanical systems for the wastewater treatment plant, including pumps, piping, motors, and other critical components.
• Overseeing the development of technical specifications for mechanical equipment, ensuring that they meet the required performance standards.
• Supervising the implementation of mechanical designs during the construction phase and ensuring that they are executed according to the approved designs.
• Collaborating with other engineering disciplines (civil, electrical, hydraulic) to ensure the mechanical systems integrate seamlessly with the overall project.
• Providing technical leadership to the mechanical design team, guiding the optimization of system performance and energy efficiency.
• Conducting performance analysis on mechanical systems and recommending modifications when necessary to improve efficiency and safety.
• Preparing detailed reports and documentation related to the mechanical design and project progress, ensuring compliance with the project’s goals and international standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, with postgraduate qualifications in a related field preferred (e.g., mechanical design, environmental engineering).
• A minimum of 12 years of experience in mechanical design for infrastructure projects, particularly in wastewater treatment.
• Proven experience in at least two similar projects involving the design of mechanical systems for wastewater treatment plants.
• Strong technical expertise in mechanical design and proficiency in using design and modeling software.
• Excellent communication skills in English (knowledge of Arabic is an asset).
