Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive radiation protection programs in accordance with NRC, EPA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Monitor radiation levels using dosimetry, survey meters, and remote sensing systems.
  • Conduct radiation exposure assessments and enforce ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
  • Establish contamination control, decontamination protocols, and PPE guidelines.
  • Train and support plant staff on radiation safety procedures, emergency response, and handling radioactive materials.
  • Lead regulatory audits, prepare documentation, and support compliance inspections.
  • Conduct shielding calculations and assess radiation barrier effectiveness.
  • Oversee or advise on radioactive waste handling and disposal in line with legal standards.
  • Investigate radiation incidents and perform dose reconstruction and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of exposure, contamination levels, and regulatory compliance reports.

Requirement

  • Master’s degree in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in radiation protection, nuclear operations, or health physics. (Internship/co-op experience considered for junior profiles.)
  • Strong knowledge of radiation physics, dosimetry, shielding, and contamination control.
  • Familiarity with NRC, EPA, OSHA, and ANSI radiation safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in using radiation detection equipment (e.g., Geiger counters, scintillation detectors).
  • Excellent communication and training skills for educating staff on safety protocols.
  • Proven analytical, troubleshooting, and compliance reporting abilities.

Preferred

  • CHP (Certified Health Physicist) or NRRPT certification.
  • Experience using radiation modeling/safety software.
  • Fluency in Italian (written and oral).
  • Experience supporting IPO-readiness or working in a listed company environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple safety audits, and collaborate across departments.
