Duration: 3 years - renewable based on performance

Role Overview

The Material Supervisor is responsible for ensuring full traceability and control of drilling and wells materials from receipt through storage, deployment, and return from rig operations.

The position oversees inventory management, stock movements, and material documentation to guarantee that drilling operations are supported with accurate material availability and traceability both physically and within SAP systems.

The role interfaces closely with logistics, contracts & procurement teams, drilling contractors, and internal project teams to ensure effective material planning and coordination across all drilling and wells activities.

Key Responsibilities

Materials Management

  • Track material orders and ensure end-to-end traceability (inbound → storage → outbound → installation → rig returns).
  • Maintain accurate inventory records both physically and within SAP.
  • Control drilling and wells material availability and stock planning.
  • Monitor goods movements and ensure supporting documentation is available for rig operations.
  • Create and maintain Material Master Registers for drilling and wells equipment.

Inventory Control

  • Perform regular inventory checks with QAQC representatives and logistics teams.
  • Allocate materials according to the rig schedule and manage reservations within SAP.
  • Monitor stock movements and maintain accurate material records.
  • Ensure correct preservation, storage, and tracking of drilling equipment.

Coordination & Interfaces

  • Act as the primary point of contact for drilling and wells materials.
  • Interface with contractors, stock controllers, cost controllers, logistics teams, and procurement.
  • Work closely with the Lead QAQC Engineer and the second Material Supervisor.
  • Coordinate with drilling and wells contractors to manage material requirements.

Material Planning

  • Support material requirements planning (MRP) with service contractors.
  • Identify potential shortages or excess materials and anticipate future needs.
  • Ensure procurement activities align with drilling schedules.

Procurement Support

  • Support technical administrators with purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and contract follow-up.
  • Assist Contracts & Procurement teams in managing stock and procurement processes.
  • Monitor contract value consumption and follow up on procurement documentation.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure material traceability in SAP throughout the supply chain.
  • Maintain material documentation including safety data sheets (MSDS).
  • Manage licensing requirements for specialized materials such as radioactive goods transported offshore.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, quality management systems, and industry guidelines.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring

  • Develop and monitor KPIs related to material management and inventory control.
  • Report regularly on stock status and material performance indicators.
  • Participate in service quality meetings with contractors.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
HSE Responsibilities
  • Ensure all activities comply with company HSE policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Promote safe working practices in materials handling and logistics operations.
  • Support operational safety initiatives and risk management processes.
Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
  • SAP certification is considered an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry.
  • 6-10 years of experience in a similar material coordination or logistics role.

Specialization

  • Strong experience in logistics coordination for drilling operations.
  • Proven experience with SAP Material Management (MM) module.
