Inspection & Corrosion Leader

Main Activities

Project Phase

  • Lead all inspection and corrosion activities ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.
  • Technically lead the Maintenance & Inspection Engineering (MIE) development regarding inspection and corrosion.
  • Perform Risk-Based Inspections (RBI) ensuring integrity of piping systems, vessels, pipelines, safety devices, and structures.
  • Develop inspection and corrosion control policies and procedures in line with Company specifications and Omani law.
  • Prepare technical scopes of work and participate in tender preparations for inspection contracts required for the operational phase.
  • Ensure identification and performance standard validation of Safety Critical Elements (SECE) (e.g., PSVs, lifting equipment).
  • Define the equipment integrity strategy, propose actions, and execute them after management approval.
  • Ensure availability of all data required for future maintenance and inspection operations.
  • Act as the primary contact for authorities in charge of integrity control.
  • Collaborate with engineering and procurement teams to review designs and source materials and spares.
  • Integrate inspection contractors during construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up phases.
  • Participate in the selection of maintenance contractors and personnel.
  • Develop training programs and evaluate both Company and contractor staff in inspection and corrosion disciplines.
  • Ensure proper implementation of RBI systems and baseline data collection.
  • Manage technical expertise and inspection philosophy documentation.
  • Develop and maintain periodic reports, KPIs, and ensure certification of facilities.

Operation Phase

  • Supervise the inspection methods team, ensuring correct use of RBI/FAME+ and UNISOL IT tools.
  • Manage O&M contracts related to critical equipment, establishing KPIs and evaluating contractor performance.
  • Organize inspection and control activities with external companies, analyzing results and issuing recommendations.
  • Validate inspection reports and ensure proper documentation of baseline inspections.
  • Ensure plant reliability, availability, maintainability, and inspectability while controlling costs.
  • Liaise with external experts for technical analysis and improvement recommendations.
  • Lead shutdown and campaign inspection scopes.
  • Contribute to technological monitoring in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) fields.

HSE Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate exemplary HSE behavior and ensure HSE rules and requirements are implemented.
  • Develop SECE performance standards and assurance schemes.
  • Ensure compliance with all HSSE regulations under Omani law.

Personnel Development & Competency

  • Support recruitment and training of maintenance personnel.
  • Ensure all personnel certifications are up to date.
  • Develop Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for the inspection team based on competency gap analysis.
  • Manage team performance and KPIs.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and participate in succession planning.

Budget & Cost Control

  • Responsible for non-routine maintenance expenses.
  • Participate in maintenance budget planning and follow-up on inspection maintenance costs.
  • Contribute to the development of yearly business plans and budgets.

Qualifications & Experience Required

Education

  • Degree in Inspection Engineering from an accredited university (required for immigration/work permit).

Languages

  • Excellent written, spoken, and read English (mandatory).

Professional Experience

  • Over 15 years of experience in inspection and corrosion fields.
  • Minimum 8 years in inspection methods and operations.
  • Minimum 5 years in supervisory roles in operations.
  • Experience in LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, or refining projects.
  • Strong background in resource control, contract management, and general management.
