Chartering Manager in this context ensures that marine vessels are effectively utilized under time charter agreements to support the project’s logistics and operations, with a strong focus on cost efficiency, compliance, and operational performance. This role requires coordination with various stakeholders, problem-solving, and strategic oversight of vessel operations during the project timeline.

Chartering Manager based in Indonesia (Jakarta or Lamongan Shorebase) to manage marine craft on a Time Charter (T/C) for a project .

Key responsibilities

1. Vessel Management

  • Coordinate Marine Craft Operations Manage vessels that are under a time charter (T/C) agreement for the project. This involves ensuring that the vessels are used efficiently for the duration of the charter period and meet the operational requirements of the project.
  • Scheduling and Allocation Plan and allocate vessels to specific tasks based on project needs, ensuring that the vessel’s operations align with the project timeline.
  • Monitoring Vessel Performance Track the performance of chartered vessels, ensuring they are operating effectively, meeting safety and regulatory standards, and maintaining a high level of performance.

2. Contract Management

  • Charter Agreements Oversee the terms and conditions of the time charter agreements, ensuring that all contractual obligations are met by both the vessel owner and the project team.
  • Cost Management Ensure that the vessels are utilized within the agreed financial terms, optimizing operational costs and minimizing unnecessary expenditures during the charter period.
  • Negotiation and Extension Negotiate extensions or adjustments to the charter agreements if needed to accommodate project changes or delays.

3. Liaison and Communication

  • Coordination with Stakeholders Act as the main point of contact between the project team, shipowners, and vessel operators, ensuring smooth communication regarding vessel availability, schedule changes, and operational updates.
  • Problem Solving Address any issues that arise during the charter period, such as delays, technical issues with the vessels, or operational challenges, by coordinating with the shipowner and relevant authorities.

4. Safety and Compliance

  • HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) Ensure that all vessels comply with the project’s HSE standards and regulations. This includes conducting safety checks, ensuring proper certification, and verifying that the vessels are seaworthy and meet local maritime laws.
  • Regulatory Compliance Manage compliance with Indonesian and international maritime regulations, including customs, port clearance, and environmental regulations.

5. Reporting and Documentation

  • Progress Reports Provide regular updates and reports to the project team on the status of the chartered vessels, including operational efficiency, costs, and any potential risks or issues.
  • Documentation Maintain detailed records of vessel operations, contractual agreements, and any incidents that occur during the charter period.

6. Performance Review and Evaluation

  • Evaluate Vessel Performance At the end of the charter period, assess the performance of the vessels, crew, and the overall success of the time charter agreement.
  • Feedback for Future Charters Provide insights and recommendations for future chartering contracts based on the performance of the vessels and any challenges encountered during the current project.
