Founded in 2008, Altea Energy is a technical assistance and engineering support company operating in the energy sector.
Initially specialized in oil and gas, the company has diversified its activities in recent years to include renewable energies such as wind and solar, as well as nuclear power. Based in North Africa since its inception, Altea Energy positions itself as a preferred partner for energy players in the execution of their projects.
“We aim to transform the energy landscape of tomorrow. The energy sector is constantly evolving, and our clients face immense challenges in the coming decades. These changes are driven by climate change and the necessary shift towards a more balanced energy mix. Since our foundation, we have mobilized thousands of experts on over 300 energy projects worldwide,” explains Armand R. Pasteur, founder and president of Altea Energy.
A Committed and Local CSR Policy
Social Responsibility
Altea Energy’s CSR policy strongly focuses on developing local skills. In North Africa in particular, the company has made significant efforts to localize expertise. “In 2021, we have signed an agreement with the University of Ouargla in Algeria to develop students’ engineering skills to meet the current challenges of the energy sector. Today, more than 80% of our workforce in Algeria is local, compared to 40% at the beginning,” says Armand R. Pasteur.
This local content policy creates a competent and autonomous workforce with a significant social impact in the countries of operation, while reducing financial costs and environmental impacts. Once trained, these talents undertake internships at Altea Energy to gain valuable field experience. “By developing local skills, we grow the entire ecosystem,” emphasizes Armand R. Pasteur. “Our CSR policy commits us to upskill local talents rather than sourcing resources from other countries.”
This policy is also implemented in Mozambique, where Altea Energy trains the national oil company’s staff on international industry standards.
Environmental Responsibility
On the environmental side, Altea Energy is committed to reducing the carbon footprint of its activities. The company collaborates with super majors to decrease their greenhouse gas emissions and actively works on well integrity to reduce gas leaks into the atmosphere. “We are a leader in Algeria on well integrity issues. We have partnered with top experts in the field and offer consulting, engineering, and training services in compliance with international standards,” explains Armand R. Pasteur.
Moreover, Altea Energy partners with research institutes and specialized companies to develop innovative technologies for hydrocarbon pollution treatment. “We are working on decontaminating water from oil production so it can be reused in agriculture, which is a significant challenge in our operating countries that often suffer from arid climates,” adds Armand R. Pasteur.
Global Certifications as a Guarantee of Quality
Altea Energy prides itself on maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The company is certified ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment), and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety). In 2023, it also obtained Qualianor certification in radioprotection for its nuclear activities. “These certifications ensure that our operational procedures focus on the satisfaction of our clients and consultants, while preserving the health and safety of all. It is a necessary balance and a sign of modernity in our managerial approach,” confides Armand R. Pasteur.
The Challenges of the Energy Sector
The energy sector is undergoing significant changes, with an imperative to transition to more sustainable energy sources. “The upcoming change is crucial: to meet the energy challenges set by the COP, we must gradually reduce fossil fuels and accelerate the development of renewable projects. We need to find new, cleaner techniques, particularly hydrogen, which we are currently exploring,” emphasizes Armand R. Pasteur.
Altea Energy actively supports this transition by engaging in various projects, from renewable energies to hydrogen and nuclear. The company selects highly technical consultants for its clients, deploying them in over 100 countries, with a strong geographical presence in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
An International and Responsible Company
Based in France, Altea Energy has offices and local teams in strategic countries. With 15 years of experience, more than 300 projects delivered, and the mobilization of consultants in over 100 countries, the company is committed to leaving a positive and lasting impact on the energy sector. “We are dedicated to giving our best to transform the energy landscape and support the energy transition for future generations,” concludes Armand R. Pasteur.
Altea Energy continues to move forward with a clear vision: to combine economic development, social responsibility, and environmental protection for a sustainable energy future.
