Job Title Well Control Engineer

Position Type Full-Time, 12-hour shifts (may include night shifts depending on operations)

Job Summary

The Well Control Engineer will provide specialized expertise to support workover, drilling, and Plug & Abandonment (P&A) programs at the Ourhoud field or from contractor offices. This role ensures optimal well control performance, supervises well control operations, and evaluates rig crew readiness through drills and risk assessments. The engineer will also prepare technical studies and reports to support well safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of workover, drilling, and P&A programs at the Ourhoud field or contractor offices.
  • Provide on-site well control supervision during workover, drilling, and P&A operations to guarantee the highest level of well control performance.
  • Plan, prepare, and execute well control drills at the rig site to assess rig crew performance, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare and review technical studies and reports related to well control, including:
    • Blowout Contingency Plans (BOCP)
    • Incident Command System (ICS) protocols
    • Risk Assessments and mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate effectively with company staff and multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and provide regular updates on well control status and performance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Well Control and Blowout consultancy.
  • Proven expertise in workover, drilling, and P&A operations.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively interact with company personnel.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including night shifts, as required by well site conditions.
  • Must demonstrate strong problem-solving, analytical, and safety-focused mindset.

Work Conditions

  • 12-hour workdays; night shifts may be required at the rig site depending on operational requirements.
  • Work will be performed both on-site at Ourhoud field and at contractor offices as needed.
