Slickline Superintendent

Duration 12 months renewable

Location Cameroon, 50/50 office/offshore

Work Pattern 5 weeks on / 5 weeks off rotation

Role Summary

The Senior Slickline Superintendent is responsible for supervising and coordinating all offshore slickline operations on producing assets.

He ensures that slickline interventions are planned, prepared, and executed safely and efficiently, in compliance with company procedures, well integrity policies, and international best practices.

He leads the slickline team offshore, interfaces with the well services and production teams, and acts as the technical authority for slickline activities.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Planning & Supervision

  • Supervise the execution of slickline operations including:
    • Plug setting/removal
    • Flow control device installation/retrieval
    • Tubing pressure and leak verification
    • Dummy runs, memory gauge deployments, drifting
    • Surface controlled subsurface safety valve (SCSSV) operations
    • Fishing and wire recovery
  • Ensure well preparation, equipment readiness, and job planning are validated prior to operations
  • Coordinate with production and well integrity departments for intervention windows
  • Review work instructions, risk assessments, and contingency plans
  • Ensure compliance with SIMOPS rules when intervening on live platforms

Team Management

  • Lead and coordinate slickline contractor crews offshore
  • Ensure work is conducted safely and efficiently
  • Evaluate performance and provide operational feedback
  • Participate in the training and mentoring of junior slickline staff

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure application of safety rules and well control procedures
  • Conduct toolbox talks and pre-job safety meetings
  • Enforce use of appropriate PPE and safety barriers
  • Identify potential hazards and stop unsafe operations
  • Verify that all equipment is certified and fit-for-purpose

Reporting & Technical Feedback

  • Maintain daily slickline operations reports
  • Record all well interventions and integrity-related actions
  • Report anomalies, NPT events, or lessons learned to onshore teams
  • Suggest improvements to procedures and intervention efficiency
  • Participate in Root Cause Analyses (RCA) when required

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in slickline operations, including 5+ years in a supervisory offshore role
  • Proven experience with live well interventions, fishing operations, SCSSV and well integrity-related slickline tasks
  • Good understanding of pressure control equipment, wellhead components, and wireline unit certification
  • Familiar with international HSE standards and operational safety in offshore environments
  • IWCF Well Intervention Certification (or equivalent) preferred
  • Valid offshore survival (BOSIET or FOET), medical and fitness certificates
  • Fluent in English; French is an advantage
  • Proficient in daily reporting tools (WellView, OpenWells, Excel, etc.)
