HSE Process Safety Engineer

Responsibilities:

LEADERSHIP and COMMITTMENT:

  • Participates in project technical review committees and groups, technical decision-making processes, and other instances as required.
  • Applies expertise and leadership to promote a proactive and positive approach and culture related to Process Safety. Provides sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline.

HAZARD and RISK MANAGEMENT | MANAGEMENT OF DEVIATIONS:

  • Ensures compliance with project’s requirements on Process Safety to promote a risk-free environment.
  • Develops and implements process safety procedures, plans, programs, templates and related documentation adapted to the project.
  • Participates in or reviews various safety studies/activities, such as: PHAs, HAZOPs, JSAs, QRAs, SIL, Bowtie, compliance reviews, SIMOPS, etc.
  • Participates in or reviews risk studies, consequence analyses, e.g., toxic gas dispersion modeling, drop object studies, PHE [Physical Effect Modelling], etc.
  • Produces and/or reviews specifications, data sheets, schedules, study reports, design calculations, etc. Ensures that they conform to engineering quality, competence and project management system.
  • Follows up and supports the implementation of the actions related to safety risk assessments and safety studies. 
  • Ensures Project Risk Register is maintained and updated on a regular basis and ensures all risks are mitigated through assigned actions.
  • Identifies and raises any area of operational and process safety risk and proposes relevant corrective and/or preventive actions.
  • Manages Contractors in the execution of engineering delivery.
  • Directs or participates in MOC reviews, and other parts of the MOC process as needed. Follows up on sound implementation and closure.

MEASURING, BUILDING CAPABILITIES and RENEWAL :

  • Participates in incidents classification and investigations. Proposes corrective measures.
  • Introduces continuous improvement actions to processes and systems to achieve best outcome for risk activities.
  • Conducts or participates in project inspections/reviews/audits [including operational readiness].
  • Develops and delivers Process Safety and Risk Management training for the project team.
  • Prepares and coordinates various Process Safety reports, investigates and coordinates on various queries, actions plans and gaps identified during risk review process.
