Head of Procurement

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies, policies, and processes aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Lead and manage the procurement team, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure effective execution of procurement activities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms, conditions, and pricing to optimize value and mitigate risks.
  • Collaborate with the customs clearance and transport teams to ensure efficient logistics and delivery of goods.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and other performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with the customs clearance team to ensure compliance with import/export regulations, manage customs documentation, and facilitate smooth clearance processes.
  • Collaborate with the transport team to optimize transportation routes, modes, and costs, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing disruptions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and support their procurement needs, providing guidance and ensuring compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
  • Lead the development and implementation of sourcing strategies, including supplier qualification, evaluation, and performance management.
  • Monitor market trends, industry developments, and supplier performance to identify opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities and capacity.
  • Develop and manage supplier contracts and agreements, ensuring adherence to legal and ethical standards.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contractual terms and conditions, ensuring favorable terms, risk mitigation, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Implement effective procurement systems, tools, and technologies to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize supply chain processes, improve inventory management, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on procurement performance metrics, including cost savings, supplier performance, and process efficiency.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and best practices in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Lead and participate in procurement-related projects and initiatives as required.

Professional Knowledge & Experience

  • Proven experience in procurement and supply chain management, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong understanding of procurement principles, strategic sourcing, and contract management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills in English, French, and Arabic.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English, French, and Arabic to effectively communicate with stakeholders.
  • Solid knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to procurement and supply chain management.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems and tools.
  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools such as SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
