Drilling Engineer

• Status: Residential (5d/8h & Rotational 28d/12h)

Context & Environment

In 2021, the COMPANY discovered an extensive oil and associated gas field 70 km off the coast of Abidjan, Ivory Coast at a depth of 1,200 metres. It was the first commercial discovery in the country in the past 20 years. We call it fast track and it consists in running the design, authorisation and execution phases in parallel. Another innovative aspect of the project is the reuse of an existing FPSO, modernised and made technologically more advanced to ensure an accelerated start-up, optimising costs and time and minimising the waste of raw materials and construction materials.

Missions/Service Dimensions

The service holder will develop optimized well design according to Company standards & minimum requirements, integrating the most suitable technologies and well construction methods. To prepare drilling programs and related operation's plan, support its execution providing engineering advise to the SPT. To update (when necessary) well design and execution plans.

Main Activities

  • Preparing drilling programs including all information in accordance to Company’s procedures with particular attention to well integrity, best available technologies, and operational safety.
  • Preparing estimated cost breakdown of wells to be drilled (AFE). Tracking and benchmarking drilling performance and costs.
  • Operations follow-up on daily basis, making recommendations to avoid drilling operational problems. Assisting the Drilling SPT for specific tasks.
  • Recommending changes (if necessary) to improve drilling methods and techniques.
  • Preparing End of Well Report, collecting lessons learnt.
  • Carrying out specific studies, reports as per specific request from Well Engineering Manager.

Assisting in the preparation and evaluation of tenders

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Required Experience: at least 15 years in Subsea Drilling Engineering and 8 years in the position

Languages: English intermediate level (minimum)

Other Observations

  • Duties to be carried out in compliance with Company Code of Ethics and Internal Control System.
