Reporting To Project Controls Manager / Project Manager

Job Purpose

The Cost Controller is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and reporting project costs throughout all phases of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects. The role ensures that project expenditures remain within approved budgets while providing accurate forecasting and financial visibility to project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project cost control systems and procedures.
  • Monitor project budgets, commitments, actual costs, and forecasts.
  • Prepare cost reports (weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc) for project management and client.
  • Track expenditures against approved Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Analyze cost variances and provide corrective action recommendations.
  • Coordinate with procurement, engineering, construction, and finance teams.
  • Support preparation of cash flow forecasts and cost-at-completion (EAC).
  • Review subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and contract compliance.
  • Participate in change management and variation order processes.
  • Ensure proper cost allocation and coding across project activities.
  • Support risk analysis related to project cost exposure.
  • Assist in tendering and estimating activities when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in cost control within Oil & Gas or EPC projects.
  • Strong understanding of project controls methodologies.
  • Experience in offshore or large infrastructure projects is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication and reporting abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure in project environments
  • Strong coordination with multidisciplinary teams
  • Fluent English (mandatory)



Tools & Software

  • Excel (advanced level)
  • SAP / Oracle / ERP systems
  • Primavera P6 (preferred)
  • Cost control tools (EcoSys, Prism, or similar)
  • Power BI (advantage)
