Job DescriptionWell Integrity Specialist / OPS

Report to Co-EP Manager

StatusRotation 4X4 / Based in OC

PLANNING & DRILLING PHASE

A. Pre-Spud Planning

  • Review well design (surface, intermediate, and production casing programs) for compliance with company well integrity standards and local regulations (e.g.,
  • NORSOK D-010, API RP 90, ARH Decree 94-43).
  • Define barrier philosophy, setting depths, cement top requirements, and pressure test schedules for each casing section.
  • Evaluate formation integrity test (FIT) and leak-off test (LOT) data from offset wells and new wells.
  • Review and approve cementing programs, expected top of cement (TOC).
  • Define wellhead & BOP configuration and barrier verification tests before spud.

B. Drilling Execution Support

  • Monitor real-time well integrity parameters: annular pressures.
  • Ensure primary cement barrier is achieved and verified via CBL/VDL logs, temperature logs, and pressure tests.
  • Review and approve the remidial cement job, during drilling phase.
  • Verify casing pressure tests, nipple-up/down BOPs, and ensure correct pressure rating hierarchy.
  • Approve wellhead installation and test records, and confirm all mechanical barriers (float collars, plugs) are functioning properly.
  • Investigate and document loss of integrity events, casing leaks, sustained casing pressure (SCP), annular communication.

COMPLETION & PRODUCTION PHASE

A. Handover & Initial Integrity Validation

  • Conduct handover from drilling to production team, ensuring all barrier verifications and test certificates are available.
  • Establish reference well integrity baseline (tubing, annulus pressures, temperature, corrosion monitoring, SCSSV test).
  • Establish the well Dossier for approval from authority to put the well into production phase.

B. Routine Monitoring & Maintenance

  • Monitor annulius and record trends for early anomaly detection.
  • Establish the procedure for annuli pressure investigation and restoration tof their integrity.
  • Review down hole safety valve (DHSV), surface safety valve (SSV), and wellhead seal tests.
  • Implement corrosion and erosion monitoring (chemical injection efficiency, scale inhibitors, etc.).
  • Validate pressure integrity after interventions, workovers, or stimulation operations.
  • Classify well integrity status: Safe I Requires Attention I Unacceptable

C. Risk Management & Reporting

  • Conduct Well Integrity Reviews and risk ranking as per ARH, NORSOK D-010 &ISO-16530.
  • Maintain and update Well Integrity Database (SAP, WIMS, eWIMS, or company system).
  • Recommend remedial actions for annular pressure or barrier failures (e.g., squeeze cement, mechanical plug, straddle packer).

INTERVENTION/ WORKOVER PHASE

A. Well Diagnostics

  • Plan and interpret diagnostic logs: CBL/VDL, noise/temperature logs, pressure buildup tests, spinner surveys.
  • Identify sources of leaks, communication paths, or barrier degradation.

B. Remedial Design & Execution

  • Design repair operations such as:
    • Squeeze cementing.Patch or liner installations.
    • Bridge plug or mechanical barrier placement.
  • Define barrier verification tests tagging, inflow/pressure tests, CBL confirmation.

C. Verification & Documentation

  • Supervise testing of secondary barriers before returning the well to production.
  • Update the Well Integrity file and close out action items in the integrity management system.

PLUG & ABANDONMENT (P&A) PHASE

A. Pre-P&A Evaluation

  • Review full well history, including integrity issues, annular pressures, and barrier performance.
  • Identify hydrocarbon-bearing zones, over-pressured formations, and environmentally sensitive aquifers.
  • Define minimum safe abandonment depth (MSAD) and barrier strategy (rock-to rock cement plugs).

B. Barrier Design & Placement

  • Develop permanent isolation program:
    • Primary barrier: seals the reservoir.
    • Secondry barrier: isolates intermediate formations or casing shoes.
    • Surface barrier: seals openhole/casing annuli near surface.
  • Plan and verify plug lengths, placement tools (balance plugs, dump bailer, section milling, perf & squeeze), and test methods.
  • Apply verification methods per NORSOK D-010: Tag, Pressure test, CBL/VDL log, Cement returns.

C. Regulatory Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with ARH Decree 94-43, NORSOK D-010, and company standards.
  • Prepare Final P&A Report with:
  • Barrier schematics and test evidence.
    • Plug depths, slurry volumes, and cement verification.
    • Summary of retrieved tubulars, cut & pull depths, and environmental isolation confirmation.

D7ocumentation , Auditing & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish the Well Integrity Management System (Manual+ Software).
  • Maintain all well integrity records (test certificates, CBL reports, annulus pressure charts, intervention logs).
  • Lead or participate in well integrity audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Update internal standards, checklists, and barrier design guidelines based on field experience.
  • Provide training and mentoring for operations engineers and supervisors on integrity assurance practices.
