About the Project:

The Venus field is an ultra-deepwater oil development located offshore Namibia at approximately 3,000 meters water depth. The project involves multiple subsea wells connected to an FPSO through extensive SURF infrastructure and Subsea Production Systems (SPS), requiring close coordination between SPS, Drilling, SURF, and FPSO packages within a highly international and multicultural environment.

Role Overview:

The Subsea Production Control System (SPCS) Software & Hardware Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, testing, integration, installation, commissioning, and handover of the Subsea Production Control System delivered by the SPS Contractor.

Reporting to the Subsea Production System Technical Lead, the successful candidate will serve as the focal point for all SPCS software and hardware activities, ensuring compliance with company specifications, project requirements, and international standards while coordinating with FPSO, SURF, Drilling, and Headquarters technical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership & Engineering Oversight

  • Manage the development and delivery of the Subsea Production Control System (SPCS), from design through handover to FPSO operations.
  • Ensure all engineering, testing, manufacturing, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities comply with project requirements, company standards and international regulations.
  • Review and validate technical documentation issued by contractors and subcontractors, including design documents, technical queries and deviation requests.
  • Identify and challenge design deviations or unjustified technical decisions, ensuring alignment with project objectives and best engineering practices.

Software & Hardware Development

  • Supervise all SPCS software and hardware activities, including:
    • Master Control Station (MCS)
    • Open Communications and Control Systems
    • Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)
    • Alarm Management Systems
    • Remote Access Solutions
    • Cybersecurity Systems
  • Ensure successful integration of the SPCS with:
    • PLC-based control systems
    • SCADA and HMI platforms
    • Subsea sensors and actuators
    • Electrical and hydraulic power distribution systems
  • Coordinate software functionality with hydraulic, electrical and electro-hydraulic control philosophies.

Testing, Integration & Commissioning

  • Supervise qualification programs, testing campaigns, inspections and validation activities.
  • Oversee system integration, installation, commissioning and startup support.
  • Define and coordinate commissioning activities leading to final handover to FPSO operations teams.
  • Ensure effective interface management between SPS, FPSO, SURF and Drilling packages.

Project Coordination

  • Align SPCS interfaces with FPSO ICSS requirements.
  • Participate in technical reviews and risk assessments, including HAZID and HAZOP studies.
  • Monitor contractor performance and contractual compliance.
  • Liaise with TotalEnergies headquarters technical entities when specialist support is required.
  • Work closely with SPS Control System Engineers, Lead Engineers and other project package teams to ensure consistency across the overall subsea production system.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide regular progress updates to management.
  • Prepare technical reports, study reports and progress reports.
  • Contribute to quality reviews and project reviews.
  • Capture and report lessons learned throughout project execution.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of project documentation.

HSE Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full compliance with H3SE&Q requirements across all SPS execution activities.
  • Promote and enforce safe working practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure contractor activities and technical documentation comply with H3SE&Q requirements.
  • Report and escalate any incidents, anomalies, near misses or non-compliance issues.
  • Actively support TotalEnergies HSE initiatives, including Golden Rules and "Our Lives First" programs.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Education

  • Master's Degree in Engineering or equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Subsea Production Control Systems (SPCS) within deepwater developments.
  • Proven experience through engineering, project execution, testing, commissioning and startup phases.
  • Experience working on major offshore oil & gas developments.
  • Previous experience with TotalEnergies specifications and systems is highly desirable.
