Territorial Development Senior Manager

Role Overview

The Territorial Development Senior Manager is responsible for leading the implementation of the Company's territorial development and social performance strategy at site level. The role focuses on stakeholder engagement, land access, resettlement, community development, and cultural heritage management while ensuring compliance with national regulations and international standards.

The position manages the local social performance organization, develops sustainable relationships with communities, government authorities, NGOs, and other key stakeholders, and contributes to maintaining the Company's social licence to operate.

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement strategies and tactical action plans.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with:
    • Local communities
    • Government authorities
    • Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)
    • Community-Based Organizations (CBOs)
  • Implement stakeholder communication plans and grievance mechanisms.
  • Manage interfaces with key project stakeholders.

Social Performance

  • Implement the site's Social Performance Program.
  • Support the delivery of community health, community security, emergency response, and social development initiatives.
  • Ensure social performance objectives are achieved in line with Company standards.
  • Prepare social performance reports and monitor KPIs.

Land Access & Resettlement

  • Oversee land access activities and resettlement programs.
  • Ensure compliance with Company requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Supervise livelihood restoration programs.
  • Manage community development funds and collective compensation initiatives.
  • Monitor implementation of resettlement action plans.

Community Development

  • Develop and implement social investment initiatives.
  • Manage budgets allocated to community development projects.
  • Promote sustainable local development programs.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of social investment activities.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Social Performance team.
  • Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Promote effective communication and knowledge sharing.
  • Support the continuous development of team capabilities.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with Company social performance requirements.
  • Ensure alignment with international standards and applicable national regulations.
  • Prepare management reports and performance updates.
  • Monitor implementation of corrective actions where required.
HSE Responsibilities
  • Promote compliance with Company HSE policies and procedures.
  • Support safe stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Ensure awareness of:
    • Security risks
    • Road safety
    • Ergonomic hazards
    • Psychosocial risks
  • Promote safe working practices in all community interactions.
Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in: Social Sciences
  • Community Development
  • Sociology
  • Anthropology
  • International Development
  • Political Science
  • Environmental or related discipline
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Social Performance, Community Relations, Territorial Development, or Stakeholder Engagement within the extractive industries.
  • Extensive experience in:
    • Stakeholder engagement
    • Land access
    • Resettlement
    • Livelihood restoration
    • Community investment
    • Social impact mitigation
  • Experience working in complex socio-political environments is highly desirable.
