Storekeeper (Site Services)

Material Requisitions & Procurement Support:

  • Prepare and process material requisitions and purchase requests in accordance with company procedures.
  • Liaise with procurement, logistics, and supply chain personnel to ensure requisitions are accurately processed and deliveries are expedited when required.
  • Maintain accurate records of outstanding requisitions.
  • Provide regular updates to management regarding material status, outstanding orders, expected deliveries, and inventory concerns.

Receiving & Material Issuance:

  • Receive, inspect, verify, and record incoming materials, spare parts, consumables, and equipment against delivery documentation and purchase orders.
  • Issue materials, equipment, spare parts, and chemicals to authorized personnel while maintaining accurate transaction records.
  • Ensure warehouse access is restricted to authorized personnel.
  • Monitor and report discrepancies, including shortages, overages, damaged materials, and supplier delivery issues, through the appropriate reporting channels.

Inventory & Stock Control:

  • Monitor inventory levels and optimize stock availability by regularly reviewing minimum and maximum stock quantities.
  • Conduct periodic stock counts and inventory reconciliations to ensure inventory accuracy and compliance with company requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory movements, material requests, cargo manifests, delivery notes, and outstanding requisitions.
  • Prepare inventory reports, stock variance reports, and material utilization reports as required by management.
  • Identify obsolete, excess, or slow-moving inventory and provide recommendations for disposal, redistribution, or optimization.

Shipping, Cargo & Logistics Documentation:

  • Ensure all shipments and cargo movements are properly documented, tracked, and recorded in accordance with company procedures.
  • Coordinate the preparation of shipping documentation, packing lists, material transfer notes, and receipt verification records.
  • Support the control, tracking, and documentation of third-party equipment and materials stored on site.

Equipment Control:

  • Maintain accurate records of company-owned, leased, and rental equipment under warehouse control.
  • Ensure equipment movements and allocations are appropriately documented and traceable.

PPE Management:

  • Ensure the controlled issuance of PPE to personnel in compliance with company procedures and HSE requirements.
  • Manage the distribution, tracking, and replenishment of PPE, ensuring personnel are equipped in accordance with company safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate PPE inventory records and issue PPE to employees as required, in line with company rules and safety standards.

Hazardous Materials, Waste & HSE Compliance:

  • Ensure all hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste are correctly identified, labelled, stored, and prepared for transportation in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Comply with company HSE requirements, customs regulations, environmental legislation, and material handling procedures.
  • Maintain high warehouse housekeeping standards, ensuring materials are stored safely, securely, and in an organized manner.
  • Participate actively in safety meetings, toolbox talks, inspections, audits, and the company Safety Management System.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement:

  • Provide regular updates to management regarding material status, inventory concerns, outstanding orders, and expected deliveries.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving warehouse efficiency, inventory accuracy, and overall operational performance.
Context and Environment
  • The project entity is a multinational joint venture, with a significant social performance component and project financing involving high-profile lenders.
  • The Afungi Site is extremely remote, located in Northern Mozambique, with unreliable infrastructure and communications.
  • The site is subject to mitigation measures relating to malaria, the COVID pandemic, and general security risks.
  • Rotational position.
Accountabilities
  • Responsible for carrying out assigned duties in close collaboration with the EPC Contractor and other team members, in accordance with project rules and objectives.
  • Ensure activities are performed in line with project requirements relating to:
    • HSE
    • Quality
    • Schedule
    • Cost
Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, materials management, logistics, or supply chain management.
  • A minimum of 5 years of materials management experience is preferred, with proven expertise across multiple areas of inventory, warehouse, and supply chain management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of:
    • Materials management
    • Stock control
    • Warehousing
    • Procurement support
    • Supply chain processes

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using inventory management and/or ERP systems relevant to the position.
  • Good understanding of inventory control, warehouse documentation, material movements, and stock reconciliation.

Communication & Personal Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote site environment while maintaining compliance with company procedures, HSE requirements, and inventory control standards.
