Role Overview

The SPS Engineering & Technical Lead is responsible for leading all engineering and technical activities related to the Subsea Production System (SPS) package throughout the execution of a major deepwater offshore development project.

The role provides technical leadership during engineering, fabrication, qualification, testing, installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases, ensuring that all SPS activities comply with Company specifications, international standards, project objectives, and H3SE requirements.

Working closely with Contractors, Corporate Specialists, and multidisciplinary project teams, the SPS Engineering & Technical Lead ensures the successful delivery of technically robust and fully integrated subsea production systems.

Key Responsibilities

SPS Engineering Leadership:

  • Lead and coordinate all engineering and technical activities related to the SPS package.
  • Ensure full compliance with Company specifications, engineering standards, and international codes.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of SPS-related technical requirements and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout engineering, fabrication, testing, installation, and commissioning activities.

Engineering Management:

  • Identify and coordinate engineering studies, surveys, and technical investigations required for SPS activities.
  • Develop, issue, and maintain all engineering documentation related to the SPS package.
  • Support preparation and maintenance of key project documentation, including:
    • Statement of Requirements (SOR)
    • Field Development Plan (FDP)
    • Project Execution Plan (PEP)
    • Project Quality Plan (PQP)
    • Risk Registers
  • Ensure technical documentation remains aligned with project objectives throughout execution.

Technical Review & Compliance:

  • Review and validate contractor engineering deliverables covering:
    • Engineering
    • Fabrication
    • Construction
    • Qualification
    • Testing
    • Pre-commissioning
    • Commissioning
  • Review technical queries, deviations, and derogation requests.
  • Ensure HSE and Quality requirements are fully integrated into all technical documentation.
  • Identify unacceptable engineering solutions and recommend corrective actions.

Fabrication & Quality Oversight:

  • Supervise fabrication and testing activities across multiple fabrication yards.
  • Ensure QA/QC and H3SE requirements are fully implemented by Contractors.
  • Monitor contractor performance against contractual obligations.
  • Ensure SPS equipment is delivered in accordance with project quality standards and schedule.

Interface Management:

  • Coordinate technical interfaces with:
    • Drilling & Completion (D&C)
    • Umbilicals, Flowlines & Risers (UFR)
    • Field Operations
    • Corporate Technical Specialists
    • Other Project Work Packages
  • Ensure readiness of SPS equipment for onshore and offshore operations.
  • Support multidisciplinary integration throughout project execution.

Project Support:

  • Participate in project technical reviews and decision gates.
  • Prepare technical reports and provide regular updates to the SPS Manager.
  • Monitor engineering changes and variation requests.
  • Support technical assessments for change management and project decision-making.
  • Assist with technical discussions involving Partners and regulatory stakeholders when required.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure confidentiality of all SPS technical documentation.
  • Capture lessons learned throughout project execution.
  • Support project close-out activities and knowledge transfer.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across future SPS developments.
HSE Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate exemplary H3SE leadership throughout all project activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Company H3SE policies, procedures, and training requirements.
  • Promote Company Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Anti-Corruption principles.
  • Ensure HSE considerations are fully integrated into engineering, fabrication, testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent technical qualification.
Experience
  • Minimum 20 years of professional experience within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience on major offshore subsea development projects.
  • Extensive expertise in:
    • Deepwater and shallow water SPS developments
    • SPS engineering
    • Fabrication and testing
    • Offshore installation
    • Commissioning and start-up
    • Multidisciplinary project execution
  • Previous experience leading SPS engineering activities on large international offshore projects is essential.
