Job Summary:

Petrophysicist is expected to provide the technical expertise required for the planning, optimization and execution of our client Gaz Fields development. This position is based onsite in Algeria on a rotational basis as part of a multi-year campaign, with high activity levels focussing on both interpretation of existing datasets and future drilling campaign planning. The role is critical in ensuring consistent interpretation of legacy wells data, multidisciplinary integration within subsurface team and ensuring reservoir properties uncertainties are properly reflected in static and dynamic models. Role responsibilities include but are not limited to, well placement and design optimization support, preparation and supervision of all petrophysical data acquisition (wireline and MWD/LWD logs), core measurements (RCAL and SCAL), formation pressure measurements (including fluid sampling), production logging, and cement evaluation.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

· Provide high quality petrophysical support to exploration, appraisal, development and reservoir management teams

· Provide appropriate QC and assurance of the existing interpretations techniques and methodology

· Carry out in-depth/fast tracked integrated petrophysical studies in a multidisciplinary team

· Deliver petrophysical input for integrated field studies and ensure properties and uncertainties are adequately incorporated in dynamic and static models

· Provide advice on wide range of integrated field studies, from fracture Network modelling, to Pore pressure prediction, geomechanical studies scope and fracture modelling design

· Support well concept optimisation and design activity in multidisciplinary team

· Provide technical recommendations including value of information assessment for Data acquisition plans that address key Project issues

· Influence Joint Venture partners in the selection of logging tools and their interpretation as required

· Act as focal point for Wireline contract; support renewal process, prepare scope of work and perform Technical evaluation in line with C&P process

· Document and present results and recommendations to relevant stakeholders

· Act, when required, as representative in technical conferences and workshops

· Perform any other tasks and duties as required by Head of Subsurface, GTG

Requirement to maintain close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure understanding and cooperation towards promoting our client interests and achieving results

· JV Technical teams (Sonatrach)

· Vendors and services providers and other contractors

Education

· University Degree (Bac+5) - Relevant discipline (Geology/Petroleum Engineering)

· Post graduate level education in relevant discipline preferred

Experience

· Significant technical experience working in geology/petroleum engineering required.

· A strong career history with previous experience working on similarly operated projects

· Previous experience in a rotational work environment preferred

· Significant knowledge of petrophysical and core analysis techniques appropriate for unconventional and conventional reservoir analysis is required

· Experience designing well data acquisition programmes, data QC, evaluation and subsurface integration including open hole and cased hole logging, WL, LWD/MWD, coring, formation pressures and hydrocarbon sampling

· Experience designing QC of RCAL and SCAL core analysis programmes

· Demonstrated experience in reservoirs/geographies relevant to Neptune assets. Proven first principle-based approach to Petrophysics, with experience in operated assets and full subsurface integration methods

Languages

· Fluency in English and French is preferred

Preferred Skills

· Solid knowledge of basic and advanced logging techniques, including borehole images processing/interpretation, NMR, ECS, dipole sonic

· Solid knowledge of advanced petrophysical interpretation techniques, including but not limited to refined Saturation Height interpretation in Tight Gas/Oil

· Knowledge of petrophysical interpretation software packages, Interactive Petrophysics (IP) in particular

· In-depth knowledge of drilling practices, well logging operations and latest industry practices

· Familiar with Ordovician reservoir facies complexity constituted in glacial environment (mainly sandstone sequences but with important variations)

· Knowledge of geomechanics and hydraulics fracturing preferred

Technical competence

Expert in complex petrophysical interpretation, advanced saturation, NMR interpretation, CCA and SCAL & reservoir characterization for low permeability reservoirs

Fractured reservoir interpretation

Knowledge of fractured reservoir interpretation, Borehole/dip Image processing, interpretation and integration

Procurement Process

Experience preparing tenders, scope of work and performing technical evaluation of contract for large projects

Geomechanics & fracs

Strong knowledge of rock physics, geomechanics and experiences with Hydraulic fracture planning

INTEGRATION

Strong team player, breadth of expertise to support multidisciplinary integration from Petrophysics to RE Input for reservoir models

Well planning ops/optimization

Extensive experience in well planning wells, operations & optimization

DA planning, execution/supervision, QC and QL

ADAPTABLE

Worked in challenging environment, able to perform supervision in fairly extreme conditions, rotation

LANGUAGE

French : min level is Professional Working Proficiency
