Vessels FDS-2, Saipem Constellation, Castorone, Normand Maximus and other installation vessels.

Role Overview

The Offshore NDT Supervisor is responsible for supervising and monitoring all Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities performed by Contractors and Subcontractors onboard offshore installation vessels during a major deepwater development project offshore Suriname.

Working under the supervision of the Company's Offshore Representative (RSES-D), the NDT Supervisor ensures that all welding inspection and NDT activities comply with approved procedures, project specifications, international standards and H3SEQ requirements.

The position plays a key role in supervising Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT), reviewing inspection results, validating acceptance criteria and ensuring the quality and integrity of offshore pipeline installation activities.

Key Responsibilities

NDT & Welding Inspection Supervision

  • Act as the Company's focal point for NDT and welding inspection activities onboard installation vessels, in coordination with the RSES-D.
  • Supervise all NDT activities performed by Contractors and Subcontractors.
  • Ensure inspection activities comply with Company specifications, approved procedures and applicable international standards.
  • Monitor welding inspection activities throughout offshore pipeline installation.
  • Verify the implementation of approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and surveillance plans.
  • Ensure compliance with established AUT acceptance criteria.

Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT):

  • Supervise Automated Ultrasonic Testing activities during offshore pipelay operations.
  • Review and validate AUT inspection results and interpretations.
  • Independently assess Contractor and Subcontractor AUT interpretations.
  • Identify discrepancies and challenge incorrect interpretations when necessary.
  • Monitor the reporting and classification of weld indications.
  • Ensure proper application of AUT procedures and acceptance criteria.
  • Verify the performance and reliability of AUT inspection systems.
  • Support the resolution of technical issues affecting AUT operations.

Manual NDT Inspection

  • Monitor manual NDT inspections performed onboard installation vessels.
  • Ensure inspections are conducted in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Review inspection results and associated documentation.
  • Verify that inspection personnel hold the required qualifications and certifications.
  • Ensure inspection equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.

Quality Assurance & Quality Control:

  • Review Contractor and Supplier documentation, including:
    • NDT Procedures.
    • Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
    • Surveillance Plans.
    • AUT Acceptance Criteria.
    • Material Certificates.
    • Equipment Calibration Certificates.
    • Inspection Reports.
  • Verify that all material and equipment certification files remain valid and up to date.
  • Monitor Contractor QC inspection activities.
  • Conduct routine and random inspections to verify compliance.
  • Challenge Contractors and Subcontractors on QA/QC performance.
  • Identify, report and follow up non-conformities.
  • Ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Offshore Installation Support:

  • Support the Company's offshore site team during SURF installation activities.
  • Coordinate with welding, pipelay, construction and quality teams.
  • Ensure inspection activities are properly integrated into the offshore installation schedule.
  • Monitor inspection performance to minimize operational delays.
  • Identify potential technical risks and propose appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Support the resolution of welding and inspection-related issues during offshore operations.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Review daily production reports, including detailed AUT inspection results and identified indications.
  • Prepare regular NDT inspection and quality reports.
  • Report anomalies and non-conformities immediately to the Company's Offshore Representative (RSES-D).
  • Participate in daily offshore coordination meetings.
  • Ensure proper traceability of inspection results and associated documentation.
  • Support the RSES-D in preparing reports for Project Management.
HSE Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate exemplary H3SEQ leadership throughout all offshore activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Company HSE policies, procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture onboard installation vessels.
  • Participate in Company safety awareness initiatives.
  • Ensure safe execution of NDT and welding inspection activities.
  • Report unsafe conditions, incidents and near misses.
  • Promote Company Ethics, Code of Conduct and Anti-Corruption principles.
  • Support continuous improvement of HSE and Quality performance.
Qualifications

Education

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Specialized qualifications in Non-Destructive Testing and Welding Inspection.
Experience
  • 10-15 years of professional experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supervising deepwater offshore operations involving SURF activities.
  • Proven experience supervising NDT activities on offshore pipeline installation projects.
  • Recent experience on a major deepwater offshore development project.
  • Strong experience with Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT).
  • Extensive experience interpreting AUT inspection results onboard pipelay vessels or at spool bases.
  • Previous experience on major offshore EPCI projects is highly desirable.
Mandatory Technical Qualifications

NDT Certification

  • ISO 9712 Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Level 3 certification - Mandatory.
  • Extensive experience with Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT).
  • Strong experience with Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD).
  • Proven AUT interpretation experience onboard pipelay vessels or at spool bases.
  • Ability to successfully complete the SONUS AUT Interpreter Qualification Training (SAIPEM).
  • Experience with PipeWizard software is highly desirable.
