Mechanical Supervisor

Job Purpose

  • Guide and supervise all mechanical maintenance activities, in strict compliance with safety rules and procedures
  • Intervene in case of issues in production zones
  • Implement works related to installation modifications
  • Carry out periodic maintenance and regulatory inspections on mechanical equipment (both rotating and static)
  • Ensure proper functioning and upkeep of all mechanical devices and systems
  • Supervise daily activities of mechanical maintenance personnel
  • Be directly responsible for all mechanical maintenance activities within the production center

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure achievement of mechanical maintenance objectives
  • Guarantee the proper functioning of facilities and quality execution of maintenance works
  • Provide daily reports on completed activities
  • Ensure availability of spare parts for critical installations
  • Respond to any incidents occurring on mechanical installations
  • Manage the department’s allocated maintenance budget
  • Propose and implement modification works when required
  • Propose and oversee improvement actions for rotating equipment reliability (pumps, compressors, air coolers) and static equipment (exchangers, pressure vessels, structures, etc.)
  • Develop and/or validate reliability studies in compliance with applicable standards and regulations
  • Ensure ongoing development and training of personnel
  • Verify the compliance and quality of work performed by staff
  • Provide assistance to the emergency response team when necessary
  • Oversee periodic revisions and ensure regulatory inspections are carried out
  • Manage personnel under supervision
  • Act as deputy to the Maintenance Department Manager when required
  • Participate in commissioning and start-up operations
  • Contribute to maintenance & inspection engineering activities
  • Support development of the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Lead investigations of major failures in critical rotating equipment

Required Competencies

Education

  • Degree in Industrial Mechanical Engineering

Additional Training

  • Leadership and HSE certifications

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance

Specific Knowledge

  • Budget management fundamentals
  • Familiarity with CMMS tools such as MUSIS, MAXIMO, or SAP
  • Spare parts planning (min-max levels)
  • Basic knowledge of Primavera and/or MS Project

Technical Skills

  • Deep understanding of mechanical engineering components: construction, inspection, and safety standards

  • Ability to manage multicultural teams
  • Readiness to respond to emergency situations
  • Analytical mindset and structured problem-solving
