Material Assistant

General Information

About the Role

Material Assistant supports material control and warehouse operations for a major industrial project in Skikda, Algeria. The successful candidate will assist in receiving, storing, issuing, and tracking project materials while ensuring accurate inventory records and timely availability of materials to support construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in receiving, inspecting, and recording incoming materials, equipment, and consumables delivered to the project site.
  • Verify quantities and documentation against purchase orders, packing lists, and delivery notes.
  • Support material storage activities, ensuring materials are properly identified, labeled, preserved, and stored according to project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and update material tracking systems.
  • Prepare and issue materials to construction teams based on approved material requests.
  • Assist in monitoring stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies to the Material Controller or Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Conduct routine inventory counts and participate in periodic stock audits.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and organization of warehouse and storage areas.
  • Monitor the condition of stored materials and report any damage, deterioration, or non-conformities.
  • Coordinate with procurement, logistics, warehouse personnel, and construction teams to ensure timely material availability.
  • Maintain filing of material receiving reports (MRRs), issue vouchers, delivery notes, and other warehouse documentation.
  • Support material reconciliation and surplus material management at the end of project activities.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in material control, warehouse operations, logistics, or inventory management within EPC, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, LNG, or Industrial Construction projects.
  • Experience working on construction project sites is preferred.
  • Familiarity with material receiving, storage, preservation, inventory control, and material issuing processes.
  • Basic understanding of material traceability and warehouse documentation.
  • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience using ERP or material management systems such as SAP is considered an advantage.
  • Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural project environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience on large EPC construction projects.
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety practices and material preservation requirements.
  • Experience with inventory management software or ERP systems.
