Logistics Coordinator at Rig Site

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily logistics activities for the onshore rig site and associated project locations.
  • Plan and coordinate transportation of equipment, materials, spare parts, chemicals, consumables, and other cargo to and from the rig site.
  • Coordinate personnel movements, including crew changes, mobilization, demobilization, airport transfers, accommodation, and site transportation.
  • Prepare and maintain daily logistics plans, movement schedules, delivery schedules, and transportation requirements.
  • Liaise with transport contractors, suppliers, freight forwarders, customs representatives, and service companies.
  • Monitor the status of critical shipments and ensure materials arrive at the rig site according to operational requirements.
  • Coordinate loading, unloading, lifting, and transportation activities in accordance with approved procedures and HSE requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is available for all cargo movements, including delivery notes, packing lists, manifests, permits, and transportation documents.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse team to maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Track urgent and critical spare parts required to avoid operational delays or rig downtime.
  • Support customs clearance and import/export activities in coordination with the relevant project and customs teams.
  • Coordinate transportation of oversized, heavy, or specialized equipment in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Monitor transport contractor performance, vehicle availability, driver qualifications, and compliance with site requirements.
  • Ensure transportation activities comply with company HSE standards, road-transport requirements, and applicable Algerian regulations.
  • Maintain accurate logistics records, reports, trackers, and documentation.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly logistics reports for management.
  • Communicate logistics constraints, delays, incidents, and operational risks to the appropriate management personnel.
  • Support emergency logistics requirements and contingency transportation arrangements when required.
  • Coordinate with the rig team to understand upcoming operational requirements and plan logistics accordingly.
  • Participate in logistics meetings, operational planning meetings, and coordination meetings with contractors and service providers.
  • Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency, reduce delays, and control transportation costs.
  • Ensure all logistics activities are carried out in accordance with company policies, project procedures, and HSE requirements.

Rig-Site Coordination

The Logistics Coordinator will be expected to maintain close communication with the rig-site team and understand the operational priorities of the drilling campaign. Particular attention shall be given to:

  • Critical drilling equipment and spare parts.
  • Rig consumables and operational materials.
  • Well-service and third-party equipment.
  • Fuel, water, and other essential supplies.
  • Crew changes and personnel transportation.
  • Emergency and breakdown-related shipments.
  • Backload and return of equipment/materials from the rig site.
  • Coordination of supply runs and scheduled deliveries.

HSE Responsibilities

  • Promote a strong safety culture across all logistics activities.
  • Ensure transportation and cargo movements are performed in accordance with approved HSE procedures.
  • Verify that vehicles and transport equipment meet project requirements before mobilization.
  • Ensure drivers and transport contractors comply with journey-management requirements.
  • Report and follow up on logistics-related incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and non-conformities.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and logistics safety meetings as required.
  • Stop or escalate any logistics activity that presents an unacceptable safety or environmental risk.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, diploma, or equivalent qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Transport Management, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of logistics experience, preferably within the oil & gas, drilling, construction, or energy sector.
  • Previous experience supporting onshore drilling rigs or remote oilfield operations is highly desirable.
  • Experience coordinating transportation, cargo movements, personnel movements, warehousing, and material deliveries.
  • Knowledge of logistics documentation, freight forwarding, customs processes, and transportation requirements.
  • Experience working with contractors, suppliers, and third-party service companies.
  • Good understanding of HSE requirements related to transportation and rig-site logistics.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of logistics or ERP systems is an advantage.
  • Fluent French and good English are preferred; Arabic is an advantage.

Working Conditions

  • Based at an onshore drilling rig site in Algeria, potentially in a remote location.
  • Rotation-based work schedule may apply depending on project requirements.
  • The position may require extended working hours during critical operations, mobilizations, emergencies, or high-activity periods.
  • Frequent coordination with personnel working at the rig site, logistics base, warehouse, suppliers, transport contractors, and project offices.
