Purpose of the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and monitoring Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) activities on site, ensuring that drilling and related site operations are carried out in accordance with applicable HSE standards, company procedures and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure HSE requirements are implemented and followed throughout daily site operations.
- Monitor safe working practices during drilling and associated activities.
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety observations.
- Identify hazards and unsafe conditions and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Participate in risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and toolbox talks.
- Support the development and implementation of HSE procedures and site-specific safety measures.
- Ensure workers and subcontractors comply with project HSE requirements.
- Monitor the correct use of PPE and safety equipment.
- Investigate incidents, near misses and unsafe occurrences and contribute to root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate HSE records, reports and documentation.
- Support emergency preparedness and emergency response activities.
- Participate in HSE meetings and provide regular updates to the project/site management.
- Promote a strong safety culture and proactively raise HSE awareness among the workforce.
- Liaise with site management, drilling personnel, contractors and other project stakeholders regarding HSE matters.
- Ensure environmental requirements are followed during drilling and site activities.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in an HSE/Safety position within drilling, oil & gas, geothermal, construction or a similar high-risk industrial environment.
- IOSH or NEBOSH or equivalent HSE qualifications are an advantage.
- Good knowledge of HSE standards, procedures and risk management practices.
- Good understanding of Permit to Work (PTW) systems and safe working practices.
- Familiarity with emergency response procedures and site emergency preparedness.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
