Drilling Contract Engineer

Location:West Africa (rotational position, offshore/onshore interface)

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Spot contract - duration to be discussed during interview

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full contracting process for drilling-related scopes (drillship support, third-party services, logistics, casing, mud, ROV, cementing, wellheads, subsea trees, etc.).
  • Draft and issue Call for Tender (CFT) documents in alignment with company standards and technical requirements.
  • Lead contract negotiations, evaluations, and contract awards in coordination with drilling and legal teams.
  • Ensure contracts reflect applicable local content obligations, international best practices, and operational constraints.
  • Monitor contract performance, delivery, and compliance throughout the well campaign.
  • Administer contracts on-site when required, including the processing of service entries, change orders, claims, and reporting.
  • Participate in daily drilling meetings as a contract focal point to anticipate risks or non-conformities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of variation orders, contract amendments, and cost tracking in alignment with the drilling budget.
  • Provide contractual input to the planning and logistics team to ensure seamless integration between operations and procurement.
  • Support the contract close-out process and participate in debriefings and REX consolidation at the end of the campaign.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Engineering, Legal, or Business.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in contract management for offshore drilling or deepwater oil & gas projects.
  • Proven track record working with drillship or semi-submersible operations.
  • Solid knowledge of marine services contracts, dayrate structures, drilling rig service agreements, and associated third-party scopes.
  • Familiarity with claim and variation order management in drilling operations.
  • Experience working in multicultural and remote environments is essential.
  • Good understanding of well cost control, operations planning, and contractor interface management.

Languages

  • Fluent English - mandatory (technical and contractual)
  • French - a strong plus, due to regional context

Contractual Arrangement

  • Rotation: Likely 28/28 or 35/35 depending on operational planning.
  • Mobility: Office-based with regular offshore visits or remote rig-based support during operations.
  • Travel & Logistics: Handled by the project team.
