Job Description

Senior IT Communication / Telecommunications Engineer responsible for the operation, maintenance, security, optimization, and continuous improvement of telecom and network infrastructure across the Reggane project, including Base de Vie (BdV), Central Processing Facilities (CPF), rig sites, and remote well locations.

The role ensures high availability, resilient connectivity, cybersecurity, and reliable communication services within critical Oil & Gas operational environments. The position also provides technical leadership to telecom teams and contractors while coordinating vendors and service providers

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate Telecom team activities, including planning, supervision, coaching, workload management, reporting, and performance monitoring.
• Manage the installation, configuration, operation, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and lifecycle management of telecom and network systems.
• Maintain and optimize Cisco and Alcatel network infrastructure, including switches, routers, LAN/WAN, wireless networks, firewalls, VPNs, and secure remote connectivity.
• Supervise VoIP, SIP Trunk, E1, VHF, TETRA/Dimetra, PAGA, CCTV, access control, meteorological, satellite/VSAT, and radio communication systems.
• Manage and monitor fiber-optic networks, including site-to-site connections and fiber topology serving more than 25 well locations.
• Supervise interfaces between corporate IT, telecom, and SCADA/industrial networks, ensuring secure and reliable data and voice connectivity.
• Implement and maintain network cybersecurity measures, including firewall hardening, VPN management, network segmentation, DMZ architecture, access control, vulnerability management, and secure connectivity.
• Support cybersecurity incident response, investigate network vulnerabilities, coordinate remediation activities, and maintain secure telecom operations.
• Design and maintain resilient WAN connectivity, including backup links and active-active architectures, with appropriate QoS for critical low-bandwidth VSAT connections.
• Monitor telecom performance, network availability, bandwidth utilization, equipment status, alarms, and service KPIs/SLA compliance.
• Apply AI and Generative AI tools to automate monitoring, analyze technical logs, identify anomalies, support troubleshooting, predict potential failures, and improve operational decision-making.
• Coordinate telecom service providers and contractors to ensure continuous service availability and compliance with agreed SLAs.
• Provide technical input for procurement activities, including requisitions, tender documentation, technical bid evaluations, vendor data review, and equipment/service selection.
• Develop, maintain, and update telecom architecture documentation, network diagrams, configurations, topology drawings, maintenance procedures, and technical records.
• Support technical studies, infrastructure upgrades, system integration, commissioning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain business continuity, disaster recovery, and telecom resilience plans for critical operational services.
• Identify performance gaps and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve reliability, efficiency, availability, and user satisfaction.
• Ensure contractors comply with project HSE requirements, company procedures, and applicable environmental, health, and safety standards.

HSE & Compliance:

Ensure all telecom activities are performed in accordance with company HSE policies, project requirements, cybersecurity standards, and applicable industry best practices. Promote safe working practices and ensure contractors and service providers comply with approved HSE plans and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in ICT/Telecommunications engineering, preferably in Oil & Gas or other critical industrial environments.
• Strong practical experience with Cisco networks, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, LAN/WAN, wireless, VoIP, satellite, radio, and fiber-optic communications.
• Mandatory practical knowledge of cybersecurity, including network protection, vulnerability assessment, firewall/VPN management, secure connectivity, segmentation, and incident response.
• Mandatory practical experience using AI and Generative AI tools for network monitoring, troubleshooting, incident analysis, automation, predictive maintenance, and operational improvement.
• CCNA certification is mandatory; CCNP or equivalent certification in Enterprise, Security, or Collaboration/VoIP is an advantage.
• Experience working in onshore/offshore Oil & Gas, remote sites, or other high-availability operational environments is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, vendor-management, and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English; French is desirable and Spanish is an advantage.
• Willingness and ability to work on a 28/28 rotational schedule and travel to remote operational locations.
