Heavy Equipment Foreman

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Foreman to lead and manage a team of heavy equipment operators and maintenance personnel in our oil and gas operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment, including cranes, forklifts, and excavators, and overseeing the maintenance and repair of equipment to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.

Functions & Responsibilities

• Responsible for the observance of safe work practices within field & workshop areas and for ensuring that applicable safety procedures and regulations are followed by the personnel under his jurisdiction.
• Ensures that all installations & repairs are carried out according to the appropriate standards & code of practices & that the workforce under his command is educated in the application of such standards.
• Undertakes the maintenance, repair, overhaul, inspection & testing of a wide variety of static & mobile construction equipment. This includes but is not limited to, heavy off-road vehicles & their associated trailers, with capabilities to 60 tons, e.g. Kenworth, Mercedes, Fiat, etc: wheeled & tracked earthmoving equipment such as dozers, graders, front-end loaders, shovels, etc. with the emphasis on Caterpillar equipment: mobile, diesel-engine units of many configurations, e.g. compressors, pumps, welding sets, generators, vacuum tankers, etc; static diesel-driven equipment such as pumps & generators; forklift trucks of various sizes & configuration; cranes, wheeled & tracked, to 150 tons, including all hydraulic units. Diesel equipment from various manufacturers is utilized in the field, with an emphasis on Caterpillar, General Motors, Roll-Royce, Deuts, and Mercedes.
• A detailed knowledge of the international standards applied to the inspection of cranes, lifting equipment and their parts would be an advantage.
• Assist in the maintenance of files and records pertaining to the equipment.
• Work closely with the local trainees and monitor’s progress.
• Carries out efficient remedial action to correct malfunction or failure of the equipment on a 24-hour basis.
• Analyses equipment faults and makes recommendations regarding corrective action.
• Understand the Company’s warehousing system and stock control methods. Prepares stock withdrawal orders for the supervisor’s signatures on a routine basis.
• Has a high standard of housekeeping, both within the workshop area and on-site. Educates trainees on suitable methods.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Foreman or similar role in the oil and gas industry.
• Proven experience in leading and managing a team of heavy equipment operators and maintenance personnel.
• Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance, and repair.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid certifications in heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
