Senior Well Control Engineer

Position Type Full-Time, 12-hour shifts (may include night shifts depending on operations)

Job Summary

The Senior Well Control Engineer will provide expert well control support for workover, drilling, and Plug & Abandonment (P&A) operations at the Ourhoud field and contractor offices. The role ensures the highest well control performance, prepares and supervises operations, conducts drills to evaluate rig crew capabilities, and develops technical studies and reports to maintain safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of workover, drilling, and P&A programs at Ourhoud field or contractor offices.
• Provide on-site supervision during workover, drilling, and P&A operations to guarantee optimal well control performance.
• Plan, prepare, and execute well control drills at the rig site to assess rig crew performance, identify weaknesses, and recommend improvements.
• Prepare and review technical reports and studies related to well control, including:
  • Blowout Contingency Plans (BOCP)
  • Incident Command System (ICS)
  • Risk Assessments
• Collaborate effectively with company staff and contractors to ensure compliance with operational, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Maintain accurate records of well control performance and incidents, providing regular updates to management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Well Control and Blowout consultancy.
• Proven expertise in workover, drilling, and P&A operations.
• Strong English communication skills (written and verbal) for effective interaction with company personnel.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including night shifts as required by well site conditions.
• Demonstrated ability to identify risks, implement solutions, and improve well control performance.

Work Conditions

• Normal working day: 12 hours; night shifts may be required depending on well conditions.
• Work may be performed on-site at Ourhoud field or at contractor offices as needed.
