Operations Liaison Supervisor (OLS)

Key Accountabilities and tasks

  • Provide direct operational support in supplying executive assurance, guidance and corrective actions to the SSI team in conjunction with the site OLC’s to ensure all client's project security standards are met.
  • Ensure strong team interaction and cooperation with the Sonatrach security elements via the ASI and CDG.
  • Represent the Liaison function within the site Incident Management Teams, also responsible for site security and emergency response plans.
  • Oversee and audit the in house QAQC database, prepare monthly report for the management team to be used at JJOC level as part of the decision making process.
  • Prepare the bi-weekly escort requests with the the client for the security force elements tasked with our protection whilst travelling.
  • Responsible for the daily JV project LOC-STATs, collating up to date accurate information of all in country expatriate personnel to be used in the event of any incident.
  • Collate and corroborate all Liaison team pay documentation prior to LTL/SAM authorization and processing.
  • Prepare journey management plans and monitor all travel activities of all client's expatriate personnel whilst moving within Algeria, to include security arrangements for accommodation and transport on special field visits and in locations where there are no JV project operational bases or presence.
  • Be aware of client's reputational issues and shareholder ethical stance and apply measures in day to day Liaison activities with respect to these issues.
  • Ensure good team management and team motivational skills are used at a practical level to encourage best practice performance throughout the team.

Operating environment

Position is site specific with some travel in Algeria is to be expected and visiting each of the JV sites for familiarisation is an expectation of each OLS. The OLS shall ensure practices and work routines in accordance with applicable Algerian regulations, company processes and procedures and ethical standards.

External contacts (i.e. outside client Project)

IOC peers, Embassies, , Contractors

Framework, boundaries and decision making

Work is carried out based on client policies, procedures, standard practices and an ethical business stance. Clear boundaries and reporting lines are in place to ensure client requirements are met and also promote “Best practice” within the IOC community.

Required knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competencies

Basic Qualifications & Knowledge for the position include:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of risk and security management processes or related professional area with academic qualifications desirable, practical experience can outweigh.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in corporate risk and security management.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of risk mitigation and analysis as well as physical security systems.
  • Understanding of business continuity model.
  • Lead auditor trained.
  • Working experience from Algeria and North Africa would be highly valued.

Experience and Skills required for the position include

  • Minimum of 10 years in risk and security management, or equivalent.
  • Experience in instruction, training and /or mentoring.
  • Experience of leadership and management including team and personal development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fluent in written and spoken English; French language skills are a requirement for the position, Arabic language skills are desirable.
  • Ability to work in multicultural environments and relate with all levels of staff.
  • Experience with instruction, mentoring and training.

Personal Qualities required for the position include

  • Highly committed and hardworking security professional with an adaptable approach.
  • Ability to work operationally in a team or independently.
  • Reliable person that can work in a high pressure environment including long working hours.
  • Good communication skills and flexibility to work with Stakeholders within the client
  • Continuous professional development is a key element in developing the team moving forward and this would be an expectation for any potential candidate.
