Nuclear engineer – Italy

Location Lucca, Italy

Key Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and optimize nuclear reactor systems and components.
• Monitor reactor performance and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Conduct neutronic analysis including criticality, burnup, cross-section, flux, and dose calculations.
• Collaborate with regulatory bodies (e.g., NRC) and support licensing processes.
• Participate in core design and fuel cycle analysis for micro-reactor operations.
• Perform radiation shielding assessments and safety calculations.
• Investigate radiation incidents and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct risk assessments and failure mode analyses of key components.
• Provide technical training and support to plant personnel and stakeholders.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and licensing materials.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related field.
• Advanced knowledge of reactor physics and safety protocols.
• Experience with nuclear simulation software such as SERPENT, MCNP, SCALE, PARCS, or similar tools.
• Solid understanding of nuclear regulatory environments and safety standards (preferably NRC-compliant).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• High attention to detail and commitment to compliance and safety.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in Nuclear Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience supporting an IPO or working in a publicly listed company.
• Fluency in both Italian and English (spoken and written).
• Ability to influence stakeholders and build strong relationships across functions.
