Role Overview

The Project HSE Management Engineer is responsible for supporting the Project H3SEQ Manager in implementing and continuously improving the Project HSE Management System throughout all phases of a major ultra-deepwater development project.

Working closely with the SURF, SPS and FPSO HSE Leads, Contractors and Company entities, the role promotes a strong safety and environmental culture, drives HSE performance improvement, supports reporting and audits, and ensures consistent application of Company HSE standards across all project packages.

Key Responsibilities

HSE Management System:

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Project HSE Management System.
  • Promote safe and environmentally responsible project execution.
  • Develop and streamline HSE processes to improve efficiency across project teams.
  • Ensure consistent application of Company HSE procedures throughout all project packages.

HSE Leadership & Culture:

  • Coordinate the definition of HSE objectives and improvement plans.
  • Support management in promoting visible HSE leadership.
  • Coach project managers before HSE site visits and leadership tours.
  • Assist the Project Leadership Team in strengthening HSE culture and continuous improvement.
  • Promote HSE awareness campaigns and communication initiatives.
  • Coordinate HSE committee meetings, management reviews and joint HSE tours.

Environmental Performance:

  • Promote environmental awareness throughout the project.
  • Support initiatives aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Encourage environmental improvement programs during engineering, construction and operations.
  • Promote environmentally responsible project execution.

Contractor HSE Management:

  • Support preparation and review of HSE Bridging Documents.
  • Monitor Contractor HSE performance throughout project execution.
  • Identify emerging HSE risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate HSE improvement actions with project packages and Contractors.
  • Ensure Contractors comply with Company HSE expectations.

HSE Training:

  • Identify project HSE training needs.
  • Coordinate delivery of required HSE training programs.
  • Deliver Project HSE induction sessions for new personnel.
  • Ensure package-specific inductions remain aligned with Project HSE requirements.
  • Monitor training completion and prepare progress reports.

Incident Management:

  • Promote robust incident reporting processes.
  • Participate in incident investigations and review investigation reports.
  • Ensure lessons learned are effectively communicated throughout the project.
  • Prepare and distribute HSE alerts, lessons learned and best practices.
  • Foster a strong learning culture across project teams.

HSE Reporting, Audits & Performance Monitoring:

  • Manage project HSE reporting systems and performance indicators.
  • Coordinate daily, weekly and monthly HSE reporting.
  • Maintain HSE reporting databases and monitor action tracking.
  • Coordinate HSE audits and participate in audit activities.
  • Monitor implementation of audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Analyse HSE performance trends and recommend improvement initiatives.

HSE Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate exemplary H3SE leadership throughout all project activities.
  • Promote Company Ethics, Code of Conduct and HSE principles.
  • Ensure compliance with Company HSE Management System requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement of HSE performance across all project work packages.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent technical qualification.
Experience:
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in HSE management within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Extensive experience supporting major offshore EPC or deepwater development projects.
  • Proven experience implementing and improving HSE Management Systems.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and Contractors.
  • Strong background in HSE reporting, audits, investigations and performance improvement.
