Position Title: FPSO 3D Model Specialist

Location Paris, France (followed by assignments in Singapore and South Korea during execution)

Contract Type Residential Assignment

Role Overview

The FPSO 3D Model Specialist is responsible for ensuring the integrity, operability, and maintainability of the FPSO digital plant model throughout the Engineering, Procurement, Supply, Construction and Commissioning (EPSCC) phases.

The role oversees the development, validation, coordination, and continuous improvement of the integrated 3D model, ensuring compliance with project specifications while supporting construction, operations, maintenance, and project execution.

The position works closely with EPC Contractors, engineering disciplines, and Company specialists to ensure the delivery of a complete and accurate as-built 3D model at project handover. F031_SD Venus FPSO 3D Model Specialist.

Key Responsibilities

3D Model Management

  • Lead the development and validation of the FPSO integrated 3D model.
  • Ensure the model complies with project specifications and technical requirements.
  • Verify that the model supports constructability, operability, inspection, maintenance, and safe access.
  • Ensure progressive model development throughout the EPSCC phases.

Engineering Coordination:

  • Review contractor deliverables including:
    • Equipment layouts
    • Access routes
    • Mechanical handling paths
    • Escape routes
    • Firewater spray coverage
    • Safety features
  • Ensure multidisciplinary coordination across all engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in design optimization to improve operability and maintainability.

Clash Detection & Model Reviews:

  • Coordinate and monitor clash detection activities.
  • Ensure timely resolution of clashes and design inconsistencies.
  • Participate in formal 3D Model Reviews at major project milestones (30%, 60%, and 90% model maturity).
  • Ensure all review comments are properly addressed and closed.

Data & Model Integrity:

  • Ensure consistency of equipment tagging and metadata across all modelled assets.
  • Support integration between the 3D model and engineering databases.
  • Coordinate access to the digital model using approved visualization platforms (e.g. Navisworks).
  • Ensure regular model updates throughout project execution.

Project Close-Out:

  • Validate the completeness of the final as-built 3D model.
  • Verify delivery of:
    • Engineering databases
    • Design documentation
    • Specifications
    • Macros
    • Digital model files
  • Ensure project handover documentation is complete and compliant with Company requirements.
HSE Responsibilities
  • Promote and comply with Company HSE policies and procedures.
  • Ensure safety considerations are fully integrated into the 3D model.
  • Support safe design principles by verifying:
    • Escape routes
    • Equipment accessibility
    • Maintenance access
    • Emergency response arrangements
    • Mechanical handling paths
Qualifications

Education:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in 3D modelling for offshore Oil & Gas projects.
  • Previous FPSO project experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working within EPC/EPSCC project environments.
  • Previous experience representing the client or operator side is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of offshore 3D modelling platforms.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Plant layout
    • Equipment accessibility
    • Maintenance philosophy
    • Constructability
    • Offshore safety design
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering models.
  • Familiarity with digital engineering databases and model management systems.
Soft Skills
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset.
