Reporting To: Construction Manager / Offshore Superintendent

Job Purpose

The Deck Mechanical Supervisor is responsible for supervising all mechanical activities carried out on the deck of offshore vessels or platforms. This includes lifting operations support, mechanical equipment installation, maintenance coordination, and ensuring safe execution of deck-based construction activities in compliance with offshore standards and HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily mechanical activities on the deck of offshore vessels or platforms.
  • Coordinate mechanical teams, subcontractors, and marine crew during offshore operations.
  • Ensure safe execution of lifting operations, rigging activities, and equipment handling.
  • Oversee installation, alignment, and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Verify readiness and certification of lifting tools, winches, cranes, and rigging gear.
  • Ensure compliance with permit-to-work (PTW) systems and HSE procedures.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and job safety analysis (JSA).
  • Monitor progress of mechanical works and report daily activities to management.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues during offshore operations.
  • Coordinate with marine, electrical, and structural teams for integrated operations.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and safety conditions on deck at all times.
  • Support commissioning and hook-up activities when required.

Technical Scope

  • Deck mechanical equipment (winches, cranes, lifting systems)

  • Mechanical completion and punch listing

Qualifications

  • Technical Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in offshore or oil & gas construction.
  • At least 5 years in a supervisory role on offshore deck operations.
  • Strong experience with lifting operations and offshore safety systems.
  • Offshore survival certification (BOSIET / HUET) required.

Technical Knowledge

  • Offshore lifting regulations and rigging standards
  • Mechanical systems on offshore platforms or vessels
  • Heavy lifting procedures and crane operations
  • Permit-to-work systems and HSE offshore standards
  • Familiarity with EPC offshore construction workflows
  • Understanding of marine coordination interfaces
