Tow Master
Is to serve as an advisor to the OIM, and act as the dedicated rig move supervisor; utilising full situational awareness,
planning, and experience to provide the best possible guidance to ensure the safest and most efficient manner in which to
conduct the rig move. They must:
· Play a key part in all decision-making processes to ensure that, at every stage of the operation, the agreed plan and
approved procedures are followed as closely as circumstances permit. Where it is not feasible, and a deviation from
the agreed plan is required, the Tow Master shall be included in the process and sign off on any MoCs.
· Ensure all in-field briefings are conducted and that all AHV’s and the offshore team are fully aware of the proposed
forward plan.
· Maintain overall situational awareness as to the position of the rig, the AHV’s, and any other installation or vessel in
order to clearly issue instructions to progress the rig move in the safest and most efficient manner.
· Ensure appropriate risk assessments are conducted for all operations and stop work authority is in place and
understood.
· Maintain full understanding of the operational capabilities of the AHV’s and be responsible for orchestrating the
movement of the AHV’s moving around the rig and handling moorings during unmooring, tow transit, and hook-up.
· Be responsible for final authorisation of the rig move following consultation with the OIM, Barge Supervisor, Tow
Masters, Survey Personnel, Marine Rep’s and DSV.
· Support the issuance of relevant permits and request documentation required while liaising with the Marine Rep’s on
board the AHVs and Rig.
· Maintain direct communications with the OIM and with offshore team, to ensure mutual understanding, agreement
and priorities and scheduling of all work activities.
· Ensure that the safety and integrity of people, property, the environment, and the efficiency of the rig move operation
form the basis of all actions related to the rig move.
