Context & Environment

In 2021, the COMPANY discovered an extensive oil and associated gas field 70 km off the coast of Abidjan, Ivory Coast at a depth of 1,200 metres. It was the first commercial discovery in the country in the past 20 years. We call it fast track and it consists in running the design, authorisation and execution phases in parallel. Another innovative aspect of the project is the reuse of an existing FPSO, modernised and made technologically more advanced to ensure an accelerated start-up, optimising costs and time and minimising the waste of raw materials and construction materials.

Main Activities

Ø Is responsible of slinging and guiding loads under the direction of the Person-In-Charge/ Banksman.

Ø Is responsible for attaching and detaching the load to and from the crane hook, and for the use of the correct lifting gear and equipment in accordance with the lifting plan

Ø is responsible for giving the start signal to the banksman/ PIC for the planned movement of the crane and load

If there is more than one slinger, only one of them shall have this responsibility at any one time, depending on their positions relative to the crane.

Ø Slinger/rigger shall inspect the rigging accessories and the lifted equipment and its contents accordingly to the “Offshore Container/Basket pre-Use checklist” and ensure of the correct position of the COG and the use of tag lines, and participate in JSA/Risk assessment for the lift and may contribute to selecting suitable rigging.

Ø Is responsible of doing the housekeeping, good organization and proper storage of all lifting accessories.

Mandatory Certifications or Diploma:

Ø OPITO approved rigger assessment (or equivalent)

Ø Bilingual French and English

Ø OPITO BOSIET or Sea Survival certificate

Ø H2S training

Ø Fi Fi

Skills & Experience:

Ø At least 5 years offshore experience
