Job Description RichThis role involves managing safety procedures and ensuring that safety regulations are adhered to on-site. The Safety Manager will be responsible for conducting regular risk assessments, providing safety training, and continuously improving safety measures to ensure the well-being of all employees. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role, have excellent communication skills, and be a strong leader.

Responsibilities

Develop and Implement Safety Policies

• Create and enforce safety protocols and procedures that align with both legal requirements and industry best practices.
• Ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations, often conducting regular audits to ensure all standards are being met.

Site Safety Monitoring

• Conduct daily inspections of the site to identify hazards, unsafe practices, and risks.
• Ensure that workers are using personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to safety guidelines, particularly in high-risk environments like offshore platforms or hazardous material zones.

Risk Management and Hazard Assessment

• Perform detailed risk assessments to identify potential dangers related to machinery, hazardous materials, or operational processes.
• Develop mitigation strategies to minimize identified risks, including designing emergency response plans for accidents, spills, or other critical incidents.

Incident Reporting and Investigation

• Oversee the reporting and thorough investigation of any workplace accidents, near-misses, or dangerous occurrences. This includes analyzing causes and implementing corrective measures to prevent reoccurrences.

Training and Safety Education

• Organize and conduct regular safety training sessions for site personnel to ensure they are well-versed in safety procedures, equipment use, and emergency response protocols.
• Ensure that all workers have appropriate safety certifications for their roles and provide additional training as required by the nature of the work.

Regulatory Compliance and Reporting

• Maintain comprehensive safety records and ensure the site adheres to local, national, and industry-specific regulations. This includes preparing safety reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Liaise with government authorities and regulatory bodies during inspections and audits to demonstrate the site’s compliance with safety standards.

Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management

• Develop, implement, and regularly update the site’s emergency response plans for a wide range of potential scenarios, such as fire, explosion, chemical spills, or natural disasters.
• Lead safety drills and ensure that all staff are aware of emergency procedures and their individual roles in the event of a crisis.

Collaboration with Project Leadership

• Work closely with the project manager, engineers, and other site leaders to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution.
• Ensure that safety is prioritized without compromising operational efficiency or project timelines.
