Missions/Service Dimensions

The engineer will be integrated into the CCS/CO2 Storage R&D team and will work primarily for the “Transverse Application” project, and will have the following tasks:

• Creation of reservoir models for a storage site: Development of numerical models integrating flow aspects (fluid flow) to simulate CO₂ injection into saline aquifers and depleted reservoirs.
• Evaluation of next-generation tools for reservoir simulation of CO2 storage.
• Investigate the static and dynamic model for injecting CO2 into an aquifer, including the uncertainties associated with input parameters and their impacts on plume propagation distance and shape
• Calibrate 4D seismic data in order to reduce the discrepancy between initial CO2 plume predictions and observations, while ensuring the consistency of the geological concept.
• Based on these results, estimate long-term plume movements and the impact of storage mechanisms on plume stability.

Qualifications & Experience Required

• Advanced mastery of porous media flow simulation tools: multiphase reservoir simulation (including pre-post processing), preferably Intersect reservoir simulator
• Autonomy and rigorous approach to solving field development problems (hydrocarbon or CO2 storage) with an “uncertainties” approach (mastery of tools for multi-realization and experimental design).
• Mastery of reservoir simulation concepts applied to the geological storage of CO2.
• The language of the service will be French or English, but reports and communication materials must be written in English.
• Proficiency in the reservoir geomodeling/simulation tool chain used at Company (SISMAGE-CIG), or Petrel if not available.
