Reports To: Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems and components including piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and reactor cooling systems.
- Create and modify detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings using tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CREO.
- Perform material selection, stress and thermal analysis, and FEA for high-temperature, high-radiation environments.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and regulatory agencies to ensure designs are safe, functional, and compliant.
- Support prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Ensure all designs meet ASME BPVC, NRC, and ANSI standards for nuclear applications.
- Maintain design documentation, including specifications, reports, BOMs, and revision control.
- Participate in PLM processes and support product updates, retrofits, and lifecycle management.
- Incorporate feedback from testing, manufacturing, and licensing reviews to refine designs.
- Engage in engineering reviews focused on mechanical loads, tribology, seals, and welding considerations.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in mechanical system design in nuclear, energy, or industrial sectors.
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CREO.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, material behavior, and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA); CFD is a plus.
- Working knowledge of ASME BPVC, NRC regulations, and ANSI standards.
- Familiarity with reactor components, cooling systems, and radiation shielding.
- Experience in tribology, sealing solutions, and welding design.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communicator and team collaborator.
- High attention to detail and strong commitment to nuclear safety and design accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple design projects with strict deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering.
- Professional certifications: CSWP, AutoCAD Certification, or similar.
- Experience working with IPO-stage or public companies.
- Written and oral fluency in Italian and English.
- Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and influence design direction across the organization.
