Main Responsibilities

The Mechanical Engineering Expert will be responsible for overseeing the mechanical design, review, and supervision of the mechanical systems for the Al Gabal El-Asfar Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion. The role includes ensuring that all mechanical components, including equipment installation and operations, are compliant with the design specifications, international standards, and energy efficiency goals.

Specific tasks include

• Leading the review and approval of mechanical designs, specifications, and drawings for the wastewater treatment plant.
• Overseeing the installation, commissioning, and testing of mechanical systems, ensuring they meet project requirements.
• Ensuring all mechanical systems, such as pumps, motors, piping, and sludge treatment equipment, are designed for optimal efficiency and longevity.
• Providing technical support to contractors and ensuring mechanical designs are implemented in accordance with the project’s objectives.
• Collaborating with other engineering experts (hydraulic, electrical, civil) to ensure the integration of mechanical systems with the plant’s overall operations.
• Preparing detailed reports on mechanical system performance, design modifications, and ensuring compliance with the project’s environmental and sustainability goals.
• Ensuring that all mechanical systems adhere to health and safety regulations, with a strong focus on the project’s environmental and social safeguards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, with postgraduate qualifications in a related field (e.g., mechanical design, environmental engineering).
• A minimum of 15 years of experience as a mechanical engineering expert in infrastructure or wastewater treatment projects.
• Proven experience in at least three similar projects related to mechanical systems in wastewater treatment plants.
• Proficiency in mechanical design software and strong analytical skills for performance assessment.
• Excellent communication skills in English (knowledge of Arabic is an advantage).
