Team Leader (project manager)

Main Responsibilities

The Project Manager will be responsible for the overall management of the Al Gabal El-Asfar Wastewater Treatment Plant (GAWWTP) Stage III expansion project. This includes supervision of design, construction, and operations, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, quality, and Environmental, Social, Health, and Safety (ESHS) standards. The Project Manager will work closely with the project management team, local and international stakeholders, and the involved financial institutions.

Specific tasks include:

• Coordinating all project activities from design through final commissioning.

• Supervising the consulting team and managing the subcontractors involved in the project.

• Monitoring key project performance indicators (KPIs) such as time, cost, and quality.

• Ensuring communication between the client, stakeholders, and financial institutions (African Development Bank, AFD, EU).

• Preparing and presenting technical, financial, and environmental progress reports.

• Overseeing the implementation of FIDIC standards and contract procedures.

• Managing risks and addressing environmental, safety, and health issues.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent, with specialization in wastewater engineering or environmental infrastructure. A Ph.D. in wastewater engineering is highly desirable.

• At least 20 years of proven experience in supervising large wastewater treatment or similar infrastructure projects, with a minimum of 5 projects in various countries (minimum capacity of 70,000 m³/day).

• Expertise in project management under Design & Build (D&B) conditions, with strong control over contractual, budgetary, and timeline aspects.

• Proven ability to manage ESHS obligations and ensure quality assurance.

• Proficiency in using computer tools to analyze technical and financial data, maintain records, and generate detailed reports.

• Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English. Knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage.
