  • Ensure a constant VHF Radio watch is maintained 24 hours a day.
  • Ensure all marine operations are conducted safely and in accordance with the provisions of the Company HSE Integrated Management System Policies and Procedures, the client E&P Marine Manual, Guidelines for Offshore Marine Operations, International and National Regulations, Industry Standards, Guidelines and Recommendations.
  • Coordinate requests for marine and aviation resources within designated area of responsibility with particular emphasis on the management of personnel transfer operations between offshore facilities.
  • Properly fulfil the duties of Helicopter Landing Officer for all helicopter operations within a designated area, or in another fields at request.
  • Keep tight control of all activities ongoing on board their field of assignment, producing reports as requested by their Department of Reference, and duly informing their Department of Reference should important issues arise.
  • Train and supervise Helicopter Deck Assistants and ensure the safety of all personnel while boarding and leaving the helicopter.
  • Manage and control all marine activities within the safety zone(s) of installations within assigned operating area.
  • Supervise all cargo operations including transfers of materials, equipment, bulk liquids and dry bulk cargoes to and from installations within assigned area to marine assets, being the Person In Charge for all lifting operations on board the platform, according to battery limits indicated in Company procedure and further renewals.
  • Provide support to firefighting team in case of emergency.
  • Ensure that all lifting equipment is fully serviceable and safe for use, lifting operations are conducted safely and all personnel involved in lifting operations are trained, competent and aware of potential hazards.
  • Manage and supervise all personnel transfer operations to and from installations within assigned operating area to marine assets by any means.
  • Ensure compliance with ISPS Code requirements at all installations within assigned area.
  • Attend, or ensure attendance of suitably trained and knowledgeable personnel, at all boat landing operations within assigned area to ensure personnel transfer is conducted safely.
  • Collaborate closely with those persons assigned Health, Safety, Environment and Security responsibilities and duties on all installations within assigned area to ensure all operations are conducted safely and efficiently and all equipment is property maintained and safe for use at all times.
  • Conduct regular inspections, at least weekly or before each use, of all boat landings, boat moorings, personnel transfer equipment, lifting equipment, bulk cargo transfer hoses and connections, and related facilities within the assigned area to ensure they are properly maintained and safe for use. Also, make sure information and documents relevant to all lifting appliances are correctly archived.
  • Carry out assigned duties during emergencies or emergency drills and exercises within assigned area.
  • Give suggestions for improvements in all offshore Company activities.
  • Produce PTW relevant to lifting operations at sea, dealing with HSE supervisors on site and highlighting any special risk should need be.
  • Cooperate with HSE/Environment supervisors to ensure all paperwork for the disposal of waste from offshore fields is carried out correctly.
  • Ensure the proper management of garbage and waste on installations within assigned area, safe segregation of hazardous or contaminated waste, correct recording and safe containment for transfer to shore for disposal.
  • Maintain records of fuel, fresh water and potable water consumption and prepare monthly returns of quantities consumed.
  • Prepare full and correct manifests of all backload cargoes from installations within assigned area to shore and communicate same to vessel Master and Logistics / Marine Base.
